Jennifer Aniston's mother Nancy Dow passed away in May, at the age of 79, after a long illness.

While the two had been estranged for almost a decade, they managed to reconcile and take ginger steps towards a mother-daughter relationship.

Now what memories the 47-year-old star does cherish could be rocked by a caregiver's plans to write a tell-all book about those last troubled few years, In Touch is reporting.

The strain between Jennifer and her mom was 'terrible' in the final months of Nancy's life, according to the publication.

'The caregiver was present for the few phone calls and even fewer meetings between Jen and Nancy - she wants to expose the real Jennifer Aniston,' the source told In Touch.

'Nancy was so sick and lonely,' the source added.

Jennifer - who has been swept up in her ex Brad Pitt's divorce drama with Angelina Jolie - won't be pleased if she sees another expose on sale.

The former Friends star had a serious tiff with Nancy in 1996 after her mom talked about her in an interview with TV show Hard Copy.

Making matters worse, Nancy published the book From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir.

Jennifer caused a stir a few weeks back by refusing to take Nancy's ashes because she wanted them nowhere near her, In Touch previousy reported.

The Mother's Day actress attended the memorial service but when she was asked if she wanted to take Nancy's ashes, she reportedly said no.

'She said, "I don't want them,"' a source close to the family told the publication, adding: 'Someone tried to say that Jen thinks having the ashes around her home is morbid, that it's not her style.'

Jennifer's rejection came as somewhat of a shock to family and friends in spite of the distant mother-daughter relationship.

'Everyone knows that she and Nancy had a horrible relationship,' the source continued. 'She was an absentee daughter and now, even with Nancy gone, it seems that she still doesn't want her mom around.'

Jennifer and Nancy's 'feud goes beyond the grave,' In Touch Weekly reported.

The former Friends star had not seen her mother in several years, not since Nancy's stroke in 2011.

Then last spring, Jennifer flew to Los Angeles to say her final goodbyes to Nancy, who the source described as 'sick, frail and alone' during her final months before she passed away on May 25.

In Touch Weekly reported that Jennifer's husband, Justin Theroux, attended the memorial with his wife.
