'It's like this is a movie about a frat house...but the worst frat house you have ever seen. It's like Charles Manson is living here,' he told TMZ

Mr Fitzgerald said he rented out the swanky complex to Manziel's friend Bryan Chase in July - and later found the ex-NFL player and his friend Ryan Silverstein had moved in as well.

He said Manziel had been paying the $25,000 monthly rent but was several days overdue for the October rent and so had issued him with a 'pay or get out' notice.

Responding to the allegations, Manziel said: 'I never rented a house in the hills. I've been staying with a friend when I've been in LA which, as of late, has not been much. This guy is upset with a friend of mine and dragging me into it.'

The 46,000-sq/ft complex includes four homes with 32 bedrooms and 51 bathrooms.

As well as being used by numerous celebrities, it was the site of the Playboy reality show 'Swingers' in 2011.

Mr Fitzgerald has previously been embroiled in a spat with the neighbors because of the raucous parties held at the mansion.

He referred to the nearby residents as 'a**holes', adding: 'Buy my homes and I will leave'.

In a separate interview he told the Hollywood Reporter: 'This thing will be 50 years old and it'll still be cool. It'll be a statement. It'll be like, "Wow, how'd they ever get to build that? How'd they ever get 45 feet of solid glass walls?"'

He also said how he didn't 'want to ever have a s****y car, a s****y house.'

Neighbors likened the property to a 'cancer' with one saying 'there's drunken people throwing bottles, going to the bathroom on people's lawns.'

Residents have now accused of him of 'getting up in arms' with people damaging the inside of his property when he allegedly turned a blind eye to what went on outside.

In March he sued Saudi prince Aziz al Saud for allegedly causing $300,000 worth of damage to the mansion.

According to the lawsuit, party-goers snorted cocaine, smoked marijuana and had strippers dancing on counters, in the process causing $80,000 of damage to the property itself.

The lawsuit claims there were still 300 people at the property at 4am, and the prince 'continued to leave piles of trash on the street' for days afterwards.

Mr Fitzgerald said: 'It was horrible. The guy just took full abuse of my home.'

He claimed the prince was only supposed to throw one party but instead hosted massive gatherings almost every night.

According to the suit, the prince said he would pay for the damages, but did not do so.

Manziel has vowed to make a return to the NFL

Mr Fitzgerald's neighbors say the raucous gatherings have been going on for years and have little sympathy for him.

They even claim he had a lion and an elephant at one wild party.

'It's just funny. Now he gets up in arms,' neighbor Patti Negri said.

'It didn't seem to matter when we were negatively affected on the outside of the property. Now he's got it on the inside of the property. How it affects him now is making a big difference.'

Manziel, who is a free agent after being released by the Cleveland Browns in the off-season, was pictured strolling out of a West Hollywood nightspot puffing on a cigarette last month.

One of the most talked-about figures in the sport who was once nicknamed Johnny Football, he is now listed as a senior majoring in recreation, parks and tourism studies at Texas A&M University.

During a tumultuous two-year stretch in the NFL, Manziel played 15 games, but achieved notoriety because of his off-field antics.

He currently faces a misdemeanor domestic violence charge over claims by ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley that he hit her and threatened to kill her and himself on a night out in January.

After being dropped, he vowed to return to the NFL, and said he planned to concentrate on being healthy.

Manziel said recently: 'I'm not saying I'm never drinking again, but for now just mostly being healthy. I've got a killer gym in my house and I can spend time working out.

'I'm interested in doing a lot of different things in my life - including football - but, right now, I'm just exploring options and waiting to see what the future holds.'

In June, his dad gave an interview to ESPN in which he described his son as a 'druggie' and said jail would do him good.

Paul Manziel said: 'He's a druggie. It's not a secret that he's a druggie. I don't know what to say other than my son is a druggie and he needs help.

'He just hasn't seeked it yet. Hopefully he doesn't die before he comes to his senses.

'That's about all you can say. I don't know what else to say. I hate to say it but I hope he goes to jail. I mean, that would be the best place for him. So we'll see.'
