Kim Kardashian 'tells cops she asked concierge who led robbers into her Paris apartment "Are we gonna die?" and he calmly replied "I don't know", as police focus on key witness'

  • Kim Kardashian had a gun put to her head and was tied up before the gunmen dumped her in a marble bath
  • The reality TV star, 35, had £8.5million worth of jewellery stolen during the raid on her Paris apartment
  • The building's concierge led the robbers into her apartment after being threatened with a gun
  • He was left tied up in the lobby after the raid and is now a 'key witness' in the investigation
  • French police suspect the raid may have been carried out by an Eastern European gang with 'inside help'

Kim Kardashian reportedly asked the concierge at her luxury Paris apartment if they were 'going to die' after he led five armed robbers inside her flat in the early hours of Monday morning.

The overnight door man took the armed men dressed in police uniforms up to Kim's apartment via her private elevator, opened her armoured door and reportedly remained inside the flat the 'whole time' during the raid that saw her held up with a gun to her head.

TMZ reports Kim told police in a phone interview from New York: 'He opened the door and led them [the robbers] up and was in there the whole time.'

The terrified star reportedly asked the concierge 'Are we gonna die?' and he calmly replied, 'I don't know'.

Kim's hands and feet were bound with cable ties during the robbery and she is believed to have been dumped in her marble bath tub after answering the men's demands and pointing to her millions of dollars worth of jewellery.

She told them where she left her Lorraine Schwartz ring, which is worth a reported $4.5million (€4 million /£3.5 million) and was last seen on her finger in a Snapchat post earlier that night

Meanwhile, the concierge was also tied up. He was dumped back in the lobby, which is where police found him when they arrived.

The revelation comes after a new video emerged showing a mystery car tailing Kim as she left a French fashion house just hours before the terrifying £8.5million heist.

The footage shows a grey Fiat 500 trying to constantly cut in front of photographers and wanting to tailgate the car carrying Kim, her husband Kanye and her sister Kourtney after they left a fitting at Givenchy.

According to photographers on motorbikes who were also following the reality TV star, the driver of the car was talking loudly on his phone but looked to be smartly dressed.

At one point, photographers who were angry by his driving tried to confront him as Kim arrived at a restaurant in the French capital.

And when asked who he was, the man apparently replied that he was a police officer.

It is also claimed that he also tried to enter the restaurant where the family were eating but was turned away by security.

Photographers also claim he was spotted outside the apartment that was raided with Kim inside and that he was stood there for two hours, constantly looking inside the gate and clutching his phone.

French police investigation have claimed that Kim was tailed by two men in the days leading up to the robbery.

The two men – described as 'Caucasian' and 'North African' – posed as a plain-clothed detective and as a photographer to gain vital 'close surveillance' information for robbery.

One even tried to gain access to the Kardashian's exclusive apartment at Hotel Pourtales ahead of the raid in the early hours of Monday morning, investigators fear.

The men – who spoke with French accents – are now thought to be suspects in the multi-million dollar jewellery heist in which Kim Kardashian begged for her life with a gun at her head.

Meanwhile it has emerged there is no CCTV footage of the robbers breaking into or escaping the hotel which is said to be frequented by A-list celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Madonna and Jay Z.

However, the gang is believed to have been caught in a 'million-to-one' image after a camera at the Bel Ange nail salon on the same street as the apartment, facing a mirror, reflected their getaway.

One man is said to have acted suspiciously, joining the paparazzi 'pack' to gain 'inside' information about the star's movements while the other man apparently posed as a detective to seek access to the star at a restaurant.

'Kim Kardashian was tailed for at least three days before the robbery,' the source close to the French police investigation claimed to MailOnline.

'We know there was one man who pretended to be a photographer who followed the American celebrity on a motorbike to find out her whereabouts. Another man pretended to be a plain-clothed detective to try to get a seat next to her at the exclusive Ferdi restaurant on Thursday night.

'But both men were fakes. The photographer tried to listen in to the conversations by other snappers but he was challenged by the genuine ones.

'And the so-called policeman fled when staff at Ferdi asked to see his credentials.'

Detectives are now hunting the two men who are believed to be part of a 'sophisticated international criminal organisation'.

'We know the licence plate of one of the vehicles used, a Fiat 500, and a photograph of one of the suspects. They both appear to be French and highly professional.

'But this kind of robbery could only have been carried out by a sophisticated international criminal organisation. It would have to be if they had any hope of re-classify the stolen jewels and sell them again.'

Police scoured the area looking for footage from nearby shops and banks in a bid to find the armed thieves who made off with millions of pounds worth of jewellery, €1,000 in cash and a mobile phone which is said to have been remotely wiped.

But the only footage available, from a police surveillance camera, was not facing the front of the Hotel Pourtales and the robbers were able to evade it..

One source questioned whether the Kardashians had had the appropriate level of security due to the high-profile nature of their visit and the huge value of the jewellery they were carrying.

He told MailOnline: 'They [the Kardashians] had three body guards to protect five members of the family staying at two different locations while flaunting their jewellery for everyone to see on the internet. Clearly this wasn't enough.'

Kim felt there was no need for guards to stand watch outside the apartment complex, a source told Page Six.

Her friend said: 'It sounds crazy but understand she's in her own home, in an apartment with only one entry point which is coded with two keys and keypad.

'If a guard was there, what would have happened differently. Her guard doesn't carry a gun. They had five guns - most likely more.'

Kim told friends she feared she was going to be raped during the break-in that left her tied up in her luxury Paris apartment as men dressed as police officers stole millions of dollars worth of jewellery.

The 35-year-old reality star begged for her life, screaming that she had two children as five masked men bound her wrists and ankles before leaving her in the bathtub.

But once they had gone she managed to break free from the restraints and scream for help from her balcony.

She had been asleep in just a robe early Monday when she heard the robbers running up the stairs of her two-story apartment behind La Madeleine church in the city's 8th arrondissement, TMZ reported.

She was halfway through dialling her bodyguard when her phone was snatched out of her hands. Meanwhile, her friend Simone Harouche sprung from her bed downstairs and locked herself in a bathroom, the website reported.

The fashion stylist and long-time friend of the Kardashians called Kim's personal bodyguard Pascal Duvier, who was out at the L'Arc nightclub with Kourtney and Kendall less than two miles away.

Meanwhile Kim managed to squeeze her hands out of the wrist ties by 'wriggling her hands' then ran 'screaming from the balcony', People magazine revealed.

Kim didn't understand the French-speaking robbers amidst the chaotic scene.

But she heard them repeating 'ring, ring' before she realized they were searching for the 20-carat emerald-cut Lorraine Schwartz ring given to her by husband Kanye West, according to TMZ.

The men, who entered the building after holding the concierge at gunpoint, stole her ring and also a jewellery box worth $6.7 million (€6 million/ £5.24 million) before escaping on rented bicycles available throughout the city.

Bodyguard Pascal Duvier missed the robbery as he was with Kim's sister Kourtney and Kendall Jenner two miles away.

The bodyguard, who managed to return to the apartment two minutes after the men escaped, was blasted for allowing the shocking security lapse while former guard Steve Stanulis, who suggested it was an inside job.

The source added: 'When Kourtney went out to the nightclub on Sunday night Pascal had to go with her – she was in the most danger.

'Kim was at a five star hotel which in any normal circumstances should be a safe environment.'

However the hotel doorman was left with few options when he was confronted by the gang posing as policemen and armed with hand-guns.

'There really wasn't anything the concierge could do when the guns came out,' the source told MailOnline.

'The body guards never would have let me the men upstairs if they had been there.

'They would have stopped the robbers from getting to Kim and putting a gun to her head or died trying. That is what they are trained to do.

'But this was a hotel night porter. There was nothing he could do. He had to let the robbers into Kim's apartment or they would have killed him.'

The five English-speaking robbers posing as policemen are believed to have tracked her via her obsession with updating social media.

Within hours of her ordeal the 'hysterical' star fled Paris by private jet back to New York.

Just an hour or so before the robbery, Kim posted a video on Snapchat that showed her wearing the engagement ring. She posted a video of herself FaceTiming with Blac Chyna during a baby shower with Rob Kardashian
