'I thought a catsuit was okay and wore Louboutins while pregnant': Victoria Beckham reveals her biggest fashion mistakes as she glams up for new photoshoot

She is now a respected fashion designer with her own label and a slot at New York Fashion Week.

But Victoria Beckham wasn't always so style savvy.

By her own admission, the former Spice Girl has made a fair few fashion mistakes, and names some specific examples in a new interview with The Edit.

She may have been talking about her past fashion mistakes to The Edit magazine but it was hard to imagine when she looked this stylish on the cover.

The singer-turned-designer was wearing a striped ensemble from her own collection, which she pulled off with total aplomb.

With Fall/Winter hovering just round the corner, there's never been a better time to start stocking up on staple pieces and cute little knits are at the top of our wish-list.

We'd wear this striped Victoria Beckham number with high-waisted Mom jeans and court shoes, or with a high-waisted leather skirt and ankle boots.

If you want to give these looks a try but can't splash the cash on the designer original, any one of these high-neck lookalike styles below will do the job just nicely.

'At some point I thought it was OK to wear a PVC cat suit,' she laughs. 'When I was pregnant with Romeo, I walked around Disneyland in Christian Louboutin heels, literally at nine months’ pregnant!'

Nowadays she's much more low key in the way she dresses, although admits she always makes sure she's camera ready.

'I’d be getting on a plane from London, then 11 hours later, getting up, walking out of the airport terminal and being bombarded by so many paparazzi, so I wanted something that I could put on to make me look fresh,' she tells the weekly.

'That was my starting point, actually; when I began working with Estée Lauder, I said I really want to create a product that does exactly that. And the thing is, everybody is in that position now, because everyone has a camera phone.

'Even if you’re not being chased by paparazzi, there will be someone doing selfies, so everybody has to be camera-ready all the time. Whoever you are, everybody has to be ready now!”

The designer has recently released a make-up collaboration line with the cosmetics giant.

With concern to her skin, Victoria, who suffered with acne for many years, reveals an unlikely beauty secret - salmon.

'I see a dermatologist in LA, called Dr Harold Lancer, who is incredible,' she says. 'I’ve known him for years – he sorted my skin out. I used to have really problematic skin and he said to me, "You have to eat salmon every single day."

'I said, "Really, every day?" And he said, "Yes; breakfast, lunch or dinner, you have to eat it every single day."'

And unlike other famous figures who are keen to keep their beauty secrets under wraps, the star is more interested in sharing her insider knowledge with fans.

'There are two types of women out there: there’s the kind of woman who finds something nice and likes to keep it to herself, and then there’s the other type, which is me, who wants to share, ' she says.

'I have worked with the best makeup artists, hairdressers and stylists, and I’ve learned so much. I haven’t always got it right, but when I’ve got it wrong, I’ve actually learned an enormous amount from that, too. And I want to share everything I know.'

It's clearly important to the mother-of-four, who divides her time between London and Los Angeles, to be something of a girl's girl.

'I have no time for women who don’t support other women,' she declares. 'It’s the ultimate compliment when a woman tells you that you look good.'

Unsurprisingly Victoria says she has the 'biggest collection of clothes in my household for sure,' but admits fashion fan David 'would probably come second.”
