'Logan': Hugh Jackman reveals the title for his final Wolverine film...  as he proudly poses in front of a billboard featuring the teaser poster

Hugh Jackman announced last year he was putting on his Wolverine claws for the last time for the highly anticipated final installment. 

And now, the 47-year-old has proudly revealed the name of the upcoming and previously untitled Wolverine film. 

Taking to his social media accounts - which boast millions of followers - Hugh revealed that the blockbuster is called Logan.

The Australian star shared two snaps to his Instagram and Twitter accounts, with one showing a close up of the billboard.  

He captioned the image 'Logan,' before writing the street names of where it is located on the other.

In the other snap Hugh was seen excitedly posing in front of the large poster on famous Bleecker St.  in Lower Manhattan.

Crossing his arms and smiling, the Aussie hunk showed off his buff arms in a black polo shirt.

The film is set to be released next year, and was previously known as Wolverine Three while a title was decided.

It's expected to have an R-rating and is based on the Old Man Logan graphic novel of the same name.

The child's hand Hugh is holding in the promotional poster is expected to be X-23, a female clone of Wolverine who is likely to take Hugh’s place in future films once he leaves the role for good.

In the X:Men and Wolverine series, Hugh has long played the character James Howlett, also known as Logan and Wolverine.

Wolverine is a mutant superhero who possesses enhanced physical capabilities.

Last year, Hugh devastated fans when he revealed he was hanging up his Wolverine claws for the final time.

In a tweet, he asked fans for plot ideas, writing: 'My last time putting on the claws. What do you want to see happen? 50 words or less. I'll read as many as I can.'

Along with the tweet, Hugh shared a new promotional image from the upcoming sequel, emblazoned with the hashtag #OneLastTime. 

He opened up to Entertainment Tonight about his decision to stop playing the character, which he's been portraying for the past 17 years.

'It was a gut feeling,' he said. 'I don't know how many more egg white omelettes I can eat.'

The jokes were a reference to the strict diet he underwent to achieve his ripped physique for the films.

This week, Hugh - who is married to Deborra-Lee Furness - enjoyed the company of Zac Efron and Seinfield writer Larry David at the Jets vs Seattle Seahawks NFL match in the US. 

Hugh took to Instagram to share images from the fun day out, revealing how comedian David makes him 'howl' with laughter.
