Hair we go! Kristen Stewart shows off her naturally tousled locks as she films an interview with Laura Dern

Spending an hour or more in the hair and make-up chair is par for the course in the world of showbusiness.

But Kristen Stewart instead went for a low-key look, keeping her hair naturally tousled as she dropped by the NBC Rockefeller Center Studios in New York City to tape the Today Show on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old and Laura Dern, her co-star in the new film Certain Women, sat side by side as they chatted about their project for a segment which will air later this week.

The Twilight star's tight black miniskirt allowed her to show off her toned legs as she crossed them. A grey pair of socks featured black bands at their cuffs, matching her black dress shoes.

Meanwhile, Jurassic Park actress Dern wore a maxi dress with an intricate green and purple floral pattern splattered over a cream field.

Crisscross strapped gold-coloured stilettos complemented her wavy blonde hair, which she'd thrown over her left shoulder.

Certain Women, which is adapted from Maile Meloy's short story collection Both Ways Is The Only Way I Want It, stars Stewart and Dern alongside Michelle Williams.

The film held its world premiere at Sundance this January, but after a string of other festival bookings was also screened this week at the New York Film Festival, where Stewart and Dern spoke at a press conference.

Dern, 49, touched on the way the film focuses on 'the life that happens in the pauses' and 'the space where no one's watching.'

Buttressing the point, the Café Society actress defended the film from viewers who might ask: '"What’s the most important part? Show me the point where something happens." That’s what we’re used to seeing in movies.'

Stop traffic in a sheer cropped silk blouse like Kristen

Kristen Stewart was the picture of laidback cool at the taping of the Today show. The actress turned up in a very pared-down look of a sheer cropped blouse over a black mini dress. But she's still on camera, so this usually jeans and tee girl compromised with top from Chanel's resort 2017 collection. While we can't get this luxe look online, we could certainly get some mileage with her inspiring sheer top.

We can see it under a blazer or a sweater paired with pants, jeans or pencil skirts in the cooler months. And we can see it transitioning into the warmer weather with a pair of shorts or hot pants.

If you're dying to have this look now, see below. We've rounded up some cropped short sleeve tops from Free People, Helmut Lang, Mango and J.O.A.

She insisted that 'if you can look at the stuff that goes on in between, like getting to and fro, that’s when things start living. It’s really vulnerable to not be expected to play something. All of sudden, you start revealing things instead of displaying them.'

The process of selecting projects is, for her, blindingly quick. 'I typically don’t have to spend more than five minutes in a room with someone to know if I want to explore something with them,' she said.

'I’ve worked recently with a lot of people I’ve grown up loving, which is a great thing, and I’m super lucky. It’s super conducive to making good s***, because I think I have pretty good taste! There’s no formula - that’s so not how you’re ever gonna make anything worthwhile.'

IFC Films snapped up the distribution rights to Kelly Reichardt's latest opus in March, and will give it a limited American release next Friday.
