Fans in San Francisco are certainly happy they didn't on Friday, as they would have missed a once-in-a-lifetime surprise, as iconic entertainer Liza Minnelli delivered an unadvertised performance at Feinstein’s at the Nikko, which have been scarce amid the 70-year-old's withdrawal from the limelight in recent years.

The Cabaret star, who played Sally Bowles in the famed production, made things even more memorable when she paid homage to the memory her also-legendary mother, the late Judy Garland, according to People.

The Queen of Broadway performed Irving Berlin's I Love a Piano with Grammy-nominated pianist Michael Feinstein, 60, a spin on her mother's rendition with Fred Astaire from 1948's Easter Parade.

Clubgoers were likely stunned when the Academy Award winner was introduced to the stage by her 63-year-old sister Lorna Luft, who praised the musical icon as a strong and supportive sibling who was by her side throughout a battle with cancer she eventually overcame.

Once on the stage, the Flora the Red Menace star, clad in a black outfit with a paperboy cap, delivered. Those on hand praised the veteran vocalist for her ability to hit the high notes, connect with the crowd and carry a tune, the magazine reported. At one point, Liza's shoe came careening off, but she maintained her poise and chuckled with the crowd member who retrieved it for her.

The Arthur beauty - part of an elusive group of performers who've captured an Oscar, a Grammy, and Emmy and a Tony award - remained in the crowd for most of the show.

Friday's event at the venue served as an homage to the late Garland, best known for playing Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz in 1939, some three decades before her fatal June 22, 1969 drug overdose in London. Feinstein performed Garland tunes such as Just in Time, That’s Entertainment and You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Luft accompanied him on renditions of San Francisco and The Man That Got Away, before they engaged in a duet in a medley of Happy Days Are Here Again and Get Happy.
