The actor and the barrister, 38, took a stroll together with their rescue dog Millie, a basset hound, who they adopted last year.

Although it was a casual occasion, Amal as usual looked glamorous.

The lawyer bared her legs in a polka dot top and skirt set, which featured cut-out shoulders.

Amal also wore white heeled ankle boots and large square-framed sunglasses.

Revealing how they marked the special occasion, George joked to E! last week: 'It's very big news. Very, very big celebration—fireworks. OK, I made dinner.'

But he wasn't sure that Amal was entirely impressed with his effort, adding: 'I don't think she's ever quite impressed with my cooking.'

One thing George is sure about, however, is that they have defied all their critics.

He told Entertainment Tonight: 'And they said it wouldn't last. Ah, we proved them wrong.'
