Australian popstar Kylie Minogue and her English actor fiance Joshua Sasse announced their engagement in February.

And on Thursday, the Galavant star told Sunrise he and Kylie, 48, have decided not to get married until same-sex marriage is legal in Australia.

Joshua, 28, said on the show: 'Why are we anymore important than anybody else?'

'It's not right, something has to be done about it,' he said of Australia's current laws.

He added that it's likely the pair could one day get married in her native Melbourne, Australia, but the pair simply aren't 'comfortable getting married until this law has passed' and 'will not' be tying the knot until everyone has the chance.

'It's something we have talked about and decided upon,' Joshua said.

'I wanted to tell you today on her behalf and our behalf that until this law has passed in Australia, we will not be getting married.'

Father of one Joshua has started his 'Say I Do Down Under' campaign to try and legalise same-sex marriage.

On the official website, he says he was 'shocked' to hear that same-sex marriage was still illegal.

'Let’s raise our voice and public support for change,' he writes.

Other celebrity couples who have vowed not to tie the knot until same-sex marriage is legalised is Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard.

Kylie and Joshua announced their engagement earlier this year, putting a notice in the marriages section of UK's Daily Telegraph.

It is thought the couple may have chosen to announce their engagement in the Telegraph because of Joshua's family links to the newspaper.

Joshua seemed to previously confirm their engagement after referring to Kylie as his 'fiancée' during the NME Awards after party, where the star was proudly showing off a huge diamond ring.

The pair first met last September when Kylie filmed scenes for Galavant.

Kylie seems absolutely smitten, previously saying of Joshua: 'I have a love of my life which is just a beautiful thing. I am kind of on cloud nine most of the time because of Mr Joshua Sasse, my beau.'

Last year, she also gushed about her Christmas Day plans with Joshua and commented about him to The Daily Telegraph, saying: 'I go all gooey at the mention of him.'
