Her own birthday festivities are the stuff of hedonistic legend. But Kate Moss was on her best behaviour when it came to celebrating her mother's 69th.

As my picture shows, the 42-year-old Kate enjoyed a small family dinner at the new fashionable hotspot Casa Cruz, an Argentinian restaurant in Notting Hill, which regularly plays host to luminaries such as Victoria Beckham and Dame Natalie Massenet.

Looking relaxed and happy, Kate joined her age-defying mother Linda, and her younger brother Nick, together with his fiancee Tracy Pooley and an unidentified male friend. There was no sign of Kate's toyboy lover Nikolai von Bismarck.

Kate's father Peter divorced Linda in 1987 when Kate was 13, one year after she was scouted by model agency Storm.

He later married Inga, the mother of 18-year-old model Lottie.

I'm told the dinner was a quiet affair, rounded off with a chocolate dessert decorated with a candle.

Proving Kate is not the only busy one in the family, Nick, who runs a Vietnamese food company, wrote online: 'Celebrations with the family and a rare day off!'

Actor and writer Julian Fellowes, who created the hugely successful drama Downton Abbey and lives with his wife Emma in a beautiful Dorset manor house, is seemingly blessed with great fortune.

But he’s still not satisfied. ‘I need servants and lots of them,’ says the peer, who has written a new musical adaptation of Wind In The Willows.

Speaking at a Supporting Wounded Veterans charity bash at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, he explains: ‘But my army of servants will be robots. I’m serious about it, and personally very excited by the advance of artificial intelligence.

‘The subject interests me a great deal. It doesn’t frighten me. Quite the opposite. I can see how they can come in handy. I’ve heard they can do anything.

‘Although I don’t want a sex bot — that’s a step too far.’

Ice-queen American Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s schoolgirl crush on Roger Federer goes from strength to strength.

Wearing Chanel couture, she sat next to the dashing tennis champion at the fashion house’s show in Paris yesterday. Federer sported sunglasses just like his style mentor as well as a very chic polo neck.

Wintour, 66, is a well-known admirer of Federer, 35, and the pair are great chums — she styles the tennis gear he wears, is the inspiration for his clothes line and even advises him on his hair style.

No doubt he returns the compliments as silkily as his tennis balls.

Nobody gives Olivier award-winning Denise Gough second billing and gets away with it. The Irish actress took umbrage when Victoria actor Tom Hughes was described as having been signed up ‘to lead a new TV drama’ on BBC Two, called Paula. ‘I think you’ll find it’s me “leading the cast”,’ responded Gough. ‘A woman. Called Paula. Do the math.’
