Brooke Mueller looked healthy and happy as she took her sons to visit Hearst Castle over the weekend.

The actress and her twin boys Max and Bob Sheen, aged seven, spent time at the estate for the Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation weekend in San Simeon, California as guest of heiress Anne Hearst.

The 39-year-old and her sons - whom she shares with ex-husband Charlie Sheen - now live in Park City, Utah.

Brooke and the boys spent three days visiting Hearst Castle, where they played Cornpole, learned to lasso and went seal watching.

The boys looked all grown up as they played with puppies and went for a horseback ride. 

Brooke has been working on her sobriety and stayed focused on motherhood after leaving Los Angeles a year ago, a source close to her told DailyMail.com exclusively.

She and the boys and their pet dog have settled into life on their 10,000 square foot home on six acres.  

'Brooke is healthy and finally happy,' the insider said. 

'Most of her time is spent being a mom, and she is actively involved with the boys' elementary school where she is on the PTA.' 

Brooke - who went through a nasty divorce and custody battle with ex Charlie and has battled her addictions with multiple trips to rehab - is now 'on the right track,' the insider said.

'The past several years have had their ups and downs, but she is persevering and continually works to make a better life for herself and the kids,' they added.

The family have thrown themselves into an outdoor lifestyle, with Brooke an avid skiier and the boys riding mountain bikes.

'Moving to Park City and out of Los Angeles has enabled Brooke to finally get on the right path,' the source revealed to DailyMail.com.

'Brooke realized she and the boys needed a healthier and more stable lifestyle in a better environment.'

The actress is now focused on staying healthy for her sons, and 'understands substance abuse is a lifelong struggle.' 

She understands 'she needs to constantly work on her sobriety,' and is 'focusing her energies on being the kind of mom and person she wants to be,' the insider added.

'She didn't really understand this before, but she does now and is working hard every day to make up for lost time.'
