Tropical Storm Nicole has now intensified into a hurricane some 345 miles of the coast of Bermuda. With maximum sustained winds of 80mph, it is a Category 1 hurricane. Matthew by comparison was upgraded earlier on Thursday to a 'catastrophic' Category 4. Matthew is expected to eventually head back into the Atlantic after making its way up past Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. As a result, it could get in Nicole's path, which would see both storms interacting with one another

Kim Kardashian finally returned to Los Angeles on Thursday after her terrifying robbery ordeal on Monday morning.  The 35-year-old star, still covered up in the white hoodie she sported as she left New York, carefully exited her private jet at Van Nuys airport with her son Saint in her arms. Accompanying her on the journey was mother Kris, 60, who carried Kim's daughter North, three.

Epstein, who is a former friend of Prince Andrew (bottom right, with Epstein) was jailed for 13 months in 2008 for soliciting girls for underage prostitution. The timing comes as Clinton's wife Hillary runs for the presidency as the Democratic nominee and with just weeks until November's election.

Ivanka Trump, 34, visited a steel plant, Middletown Tube Works, in Ohio on Thursday, sporting white slacks and a pair of safety glasses. Following the tour she attended a round-table discussion with local businesswomen. Last night comedian Rosie O'Donnell tweeted that she had met with Ivanka at New York's Nobu Fifty Seven.

Rosie O'Donnell, a longtime foe of Donald Trump, is expressing thanks to Ivanka Trump after a chance meeting brought the two of them together in New York this week. 'Ivanka Trump in a city of 8 million - we meet face 2 face - i thank u 4 listening - mother 2 mother - on this new years week - my best 2 u,' O'Donnell tweeted last night, referencing the Jewish holiday.

A photograph of a man, now 75, on his wedding day in 1961, pictured left, looks so like actor Matt Damon, 45, pictured right with his wife Luciana Barroso, that he has been described as his doppelganger. The black and white photo shows him with his late wife, who passed away last year. It was shared online by his son who wrote: 'I think my dad looks like Matt Damon'.

The NBA star arrived at a court in downtown Los Angeles wearing a suit and surrounded by his legal team on the second day of trial in the alleged victim's $21.5 million civil lawsuit. The woman told jurors on Thursday that she had wanted to remain anonymous because she didn't want her family to know about it. As she was testifying, Rose entered the courtroom for the first time and she paused and became emotional while being questioned by her attorney about the events on a night in August 2013. She says she went to Rose's rented Beverly Hills mansion for drinks, got very drunk and felt like she had been drugged. She says that when she got home she vomited and passed out. Her lawsuit claims the men came to her apartment and gang-raped her.

Actor Jimmy Stewart was haunted by his memories from his time in the Air Force and suffered from PTSD when he returned to Hollywood following World War II. Stewart, who felt responsible for the death of hundreds of men, never talked about his struggles and instead bottled up his emotions. But they came out when acting parts he chose when he returned to Hollywood. He acted it out during It's a Wonderful Life, where character George Bailey unravels in front of his family - the emotional core of the film after a lifetime of setbacks, including being unable to go to war while his brother becomes a decorated hero. Stewart's anguish is laid bare for the first time in Mission: Jimmy Stewart and the fight for Europe by author Robert Matzen.

The stoicism and bravery of the doomed crew of the Titanic (pictured inset) can be told after a remarkable eye-witness account by the most senior surviving officer emerged for the first time. As the liner sank after hitting an iceberg, second officer Charles Lightoller (circled, left) wrote of how he bumped into eight colleagues who were walking calmly on deck reassuring panicked passengers. Accepting their impending fate, the men then all shook hands with the officer with the words 'Goodbye, old man' (as shown in the letter, right) - before they were washed overboard minutes later. Lightoller was the only one of the group of nine men to survive the 1912 disaster which killed more than 1,500 people, after he was ordered to take command of the last collapsible lifeboat.

Amateur and professional photographers from all over the world submitted images which asked the viewer to 'look at architecture from a different perspective' or 'reveal places we can escape or let our imagination run free'. The entrants sent in pictures from attics, tree houses, shacks, derelict houses and buildings which were normally closed to the public. Many of the images required extraordinary imagination, creativity or just patience from those behind the lens. Photocrowd holds at least five competitions a month with small prizes for the winners.

A seemingly mundane image of three women sitting on a park bench has left the internet in a state of confusion, as on closer examination there's something very unusual about the photo. Ashley (left), from Kalamazoo, Michigan, surprised her unnamed partner with printed out versions of the texts (pictured) he had been sending to another woman - and delivered them to his workplace. She then finished her revenge by posting the texts to Twitter, accompanied by savage annotations of exactly what he had done wrong in pink pen. She wrote on Twitter (inset): 'Cute texts from the boyfriend, except they weren't to me. So their [they're] in my trunk. He's in for a surprise.'

Daniel Lomtevas, 17, was chased by Port Authority officers at the bridge. One officer managed to grab him but he broke free of her grasp and fell into the water, dying later from his injuries. Daniel revealed in his suicide note that he had been suffering from depression and anxiety attacks his whole life. He said his parents never knew about his struggles because he got good grades and was an honor student.

A state of emergency has been declared in North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida as Hurricane Matthew is poised to hit the US within hours, as its expected to be a catastrophic storm with destructive winds and flooding that hasn't been seen in more than a decade in that area of the East Coast. Even before the full force of the powerful storm hits, thousands of people have already been left without power in some parts of the sunshine state. Florida Power and Light reported that a combined 12,000 customers in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties have been left without power this afternoon as it warns that 2.5 million statewide will experience outages in the aftermath of the storm. About 1.5 million people in Florida have been told to flee inland as the dangerous and life-threatening Category Four storm could become a Category Five and siege on the east coast of the state. The storm that's packing winds of up to 145mph is expected to hit Southeast Florida by Thursday evening through early Friday, as weather forecasters predict it will bring a dangerous storm surge to some parts of the state that will be even worse than what happened in New Jersey during Super Storm Sandy in 2012. Destructive winds and flooding is expected to stretch into Georgia and South Carolina moving up the coast by the weekend. Weather forecasters say the eye of the hurricane may never make landfall, however, the eyewall which contains the strongest winds, may do so.

Lakalo Kawika Enfield, 36, is believed to have shot dead his daughter Lehua Elaysea, eight, and son Lakalo Vergara, six, at their home in Portland, Oregon. Police are investigating it as a murder-suicide. Officers were called to the address shortly before 4.30pm on Wednesday. They found the trio inside and they assumed they were dead, however when officers were securing the scene about 4.35pm they heard another gun shot and it is believed that's when Lakalo killed himself. The children are pictured right and left in a family snap with their father.

Tony proved to be rather knowledgeable, proving he was up-to-date with today's earthier language. But the one term that seemed to truly baffle the trio was the 'friend zone' which, although a relatively innocent term, had the pensioners guessing far saucier answers. Meanwhile Sheila (top right) provided an interpretation of 'teabagging' that is enough to make any man wince.

Brooklynites in the Dumbo section of the borough were startled on Thursday to see the banner unfurled from the railing that lines the lower level of the bridge. The banner (left), which was hung by two anonymous figures, bears the word 'peacemaker' with Vladimir Putin's (right) image and the Russian flag printed against the backdrop. Pictures of the banner were posted on social media. Putin's name has come up frequently during the current presidential campaign. The Republican nominee, Donald Trump (inset), has raised eyebrows by repeatedly offering praise for Putin's leadership.

Forbes released its list of highest-paid TV hosts in the world on Thursday. Dr. Phil McGraw tops the list after taking home $88million last year. He is followed by Ellen Degeneres, Ryan Seacrest, Judge Judy Sheindlin and Matt Lauer in the top five. The top 10 is dominated with syndicated television show hosts and news reporters. Late night show hosts like Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert are in the lower half of the top 20.

Police have used fresh DNA evidence to close a case of a missing 17-year-old boy more than 30 years after he disappeared near the Jackson River in Virginia. Two fishermen stumbled across human remains along the Jackson River in Virginia on March 2, 1986, and on Wednesday they were finally able to say the bones belonged to teenager Michael Perdue (left). Perdue was last seen on May 4, 1985, with officers believing he drowned after fleeing a nearby gas station. Alleghany County Sheriff Kevin Hall (inset) announced during a news conference Wednesday, which was attended by his brother, Wally (left of right), and sister, Sandra Miller (right of right).

WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT: A neglected six-month-old puppy has been rescued from a Texas home. Heartbreaking photographs show the poor dog, chocolate lab mix Bella, missing lots of fur. The Houston Humane Society says it 'initially received a report from a concerned citizen regarding a dog abandoned in a vacated home'. An animal cruelty officer found the puppy on dirty laundry. Bella is underweight, and has both mange and intestinal parasites.

A new museum that seemingly rises out of the ground will replace the small exhibition space inside the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty, its grass roof blending with the landscape and affording sweeping views of the iconic symbol of hope and freedom and New York Harbor. Officials on Thursday unveiled the design for a new Statue of Liberty Museum at a groundbreaking ceremony on Liberty Island, which sees 4.3million visitors each year. Slated to open in 2019, the 26,000-square-foot building, constructed of glass, granite and concrete, will be sited across the circular plaza from the statue.

Jessica Mahoney, from Hartford, Connecticut, had multiple miscarriages following the birth of her first child four years ago. The shoot was to celebrate the impending arrival of Jessica and husband Kevin's second baby in November. She said she wanted to help others by sharing their 'dark and lonely' journey. The resulting photograph, pictured, has become an online sensation after it was shared by the photographers online.

Rescue workers in Benalmadena, near the Spanish province of Malaga, say a giant water mains burst sending hundreds of thousands of gallons of water into the air. The blast of the fracture was so strong, reports local media, that shock waves could be seen off the coast in the sea.

A three-year-old girl found her doppelganger when she went shopping with her mother and found a mannequin in British store Marks & Spencer who looked exactly like her. Ava Kinsler, 3, spotted the M&S; mannequin wearing the same leggings as her which shared her distinctive blonde curly hair. The youngster was obviously surprised to see her mirror image staring back at her from the display shelves and rushed over shouting to her mother 'It's me, it's me'. Ava and her mother Jo Kinsler, 40, were shopping in M&S; in Southend, Essex, when Ava spotted the model.

Vienna-based photographer Stefan Baumann, 35, travelled across Europe in search of the old buildings. He captured every part of the hospitals from the wards to the operating theatres, many of them untouched and with their surgical equipment still in place. The pictures are both stark and strangely beautiful a the formerly sterile spaces give in to decay. Corridors show peeling paint and once bustling wards are now strewn with dust and rubble as the buildings give in to the weight of time.
