Perez's friends and relatives marched to protest against police, saying he was unjustly killed
Perez's mother, who denies her son wanted to die, refused to comment on the replica gun or the suicide note police say he left his parents
Beck said Perez also had an unspecified prior history that also leads investigators to believe he wanted to end his own life.Â
He added the officer who shot Perez is devastated.Â

His mother, Veronica Perez, says he was a  'kind, loving' boy, CBS Los Angeles reported.Â
'Daniel did not wanted to die,' she told CBS Los Angeles through a translator. 'Daniel wanted to study and he wanted to join the marines.'
She refused to comment on the replica gun or the suicide note police say he left his parents.Â
It was the weekend's second deadly Los Angeles police shooting.
Eighteen-year-old Carnell Snell Jr. was shot Saturday.
Police say he fled when they stopped a suspected stolen car and had a gun.
