The driver stopped at Clacket Lane service station, in Surrey, after hearing loud banging coming from inside the trailer of his vehicle this morning. Police closed the petrol station slip road and detained the lorry occupants on suspicion of illegal entry into the country. Reports from the scene suggest the contents of the lorry were frozen to -25C. The lorry had travelled around 60 miles from the Port of Dover by the time the migrants were discovered. The lorry, registered to a company in Shropshire, was carrying Aunt Bessie's 'Crispy Homestyle Roast Potatoes' (inset).
