Robin van Persie injury rocks Arsenal as Dutch striker is ruled out for six weeks


Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie has been ruled out of action until the middle of October.

The Holland international picked up an ankle injury during the 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on August 28.

The Gunners had hoped to have Van Persie back sooner rather than later but the problem turned out to be more serious than first thought.

However Arsene Wenger was boosted by the news that Samir Nasri is recovering well from knee surgery.

The Frenchman is ahead of schedule in his recovery from knee surgery after the he  sustained a meniscal injury against Liverpool on the opening day of the season.

The 23-year-old was expected to be sidelined for a month but he will return to full training in the next few days.
