'I  got doubly d**ked over': Slipknot's Corey Taylor reveals defunct music event Soundwave owed the band $1.6 MILLION... and was not surprised to see 'one of the coolest festivals' end

Corey Taylor, the singer of heavy metal band Slipknot, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding defunct Australian music festival Soundwave - after a string of mismanagement and debt claims were revealed.

According to documents from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, the festival owed more than $11million to performers, including $1.6million to Slipknot.

Corey described the experience with the festival and its promoter AJ Maddah as 'really weird,' and claimed he felt 'd**ked around', The Daily Telegraph reported.

'It was one of the coolest festivals to be a part of and yet so many bands got d**ked over,' the 42-year-old said.

'This is coming from a guy who got doubly d**ked over because when we were down there with Stone Sour (Taylor's other band) we got d**ked as well and that was years before the Slipknot debacle,' he added.

Since the demise of the popular festival, Soundwave promoter Arash 'AJ' Maddah told the publication he had 'lost everything'.

'They know we did our best. At the end of the day they still went home with millions of dollars from Soundwave and I lost everything,' he said.

With the end of Soundwave and another local favourite, Big Day Out, there are rumours Slipknot's own heavy metal festival Knotfest will visit Down Under.

Meanwhile, Slipknot are set to perform in Australia later this month, starting their tour the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on October 28.
