Mystery surrounds Drake's ankle injury that forced cancellation of three Summer Sixteen shows as he RUNS on stage in Chicago

On Wednesday, Drake posted an apology to fans in three U.S. cities where he canceled Summer Sixteen concerts due to an ankle injury.

But video surfaced Thursday morning showing him on stage Wednesday night in Chicago and running during his performance.

As TMZ reported, it appeared that the rapper, 29, had experienced 'a miraculous recovery' as he showed no signs of the injury during the gig.

Hours earlier, in a statement posted to his  blog, he revealed that he'd been advised by his doctor to cut back on consecutive shows.

He explained he was 'postponing' gigs in Philadelphia, Newark and Toronto.

He went on to promise to be back to those cities with new music.

'We are over 50 shows in and I have done everything to power through my recent ankle injury and leave it all out there on the stage every night,' the 29-year-old wrote on his blog.

'I hate to be told I can't do something,' he said.

'But under doctor's orders to allow me time to recuperate, I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support.'

It's not the first rough patch for Drake's big summer tour.

One of his tour buses was hit by a thief who made off with $3 million in jewelry as he was performing onstage in Phoenix, Arizona last month.

The jewelry belonged to Drake's tour DJ, Future The Prince.
