Sometime during yesterday, Islamic State troops renewed their attacks on rebel fighters in northern Aleppo after a few days of frontline lull and no gains either way.

Effectively, ISIS militants (re)captured Aykadah, Dudiyan, Tall Sha'ir, Qasajk, al-Shabiniyah, Tall Battal and Mazrat at-Shaheen from rebel forces along the Turkish-Syrian border.

This advance comes as the Turkish Army said it had killed dozens of ISIS militants two days ago in cross-border shelling.

Through the capture of Aykadah, ISIS has now once again split the rebel enclave in northern Aleppo in two.

Furthermore, the loss of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) stronghold of Dudiyan is unlikely to improve the moral of rebels trapped in the region.

Northern Aleppo has now witnessed heavy clashes for a month as Syrian rebels - backed by coalition jets and Turkish artillery - initially tried to reclaim much of the Turkish-Syrian border from ISIS in early April.

ISIS is now expected to strike towards the rebel controlled villages of Qarah Mazra'ah, Hawar Killis and Harjalah in a move to shut down the Turkish border and expel rebel forces.

However, rebel sources said they had re-entered some of the lost villages although not being specific about which ones.

A map of the region from last week is available here.

Yeah, Go straight to HELL!
No fun I haven’t got even an old WW2 ‘warbird’ like a P-47 or COIN aircraft like OV10, Tucanno, etc : I’d like to come and say hello in such a street parade. The old Thunderbolt would be lovely with his eight .50 machineguns… ‘t was built to kick nazis’ asses, so it would be OK with nazislamists too (y) .
