Is Hurricane Matthew a conspiracy? Rush Limbaugh claims extreme weather is 'in the interest of the Left' because they exaggerate the danger to draw attention to climate change

Rush Limbaugh has claimed hurricanes are all part of a Left-wing conspiracy which seeks to exaggerate the effects of climate change.
The conservative talk show host said the reports from the National Hurricane Center were 'tainted', because it was part of the federal administration which was answerable to President Barack Obama.
'It's in the interest of the left to have destructive hurricanes because then they can blame it on climate change, which they can desperately continue trying to sell,' he said on his show.

Limbaugh admitted Hurricane Matthew, which has killed dozens of people in Haiti and is heading up the Florida coast, was a 'serious storm' but he said it was the first of its kind of its decade.
He said the US had had '11 straight years of no major hurricanes' since Katrina devastated New Orleans and the Gulf Coast in 2005.
Limbaugh said: 'Remember Al Gore goes out there and all these people start saying "this is just the beginning, this is just the tip of the iceberg, we're going to have numerous hurricanes and they'll be more destructive and it's all because of climate change".'
But he said the fact no major hurricane had his the US mainland since 2005 'bores a hole' in the climate change theory.
Limbaugh claimed 'hurricanes hitting a swamp is worthless to the climate change crowd' and he accused hurricane trackers of being responsible for exaggerating the danger to population centers.
A weather forecaster in Atlanta tells viewers what Hurricane Matthew was predicted to in the next few days. Rush Limbaugh claims there is a conspiracy to hype up hurricanes, although he accepted Matthew was a 'serious storm'
The radio presenter said: 'The National Hurricane Center is part of the National Weather Service, which is part of the Commerce Department, which is part of the Obama administration, which by definition has been tainted, just as the DOJ has.'
Limbaugh said: 'Obama is (also) telling people that climate change is having a very profound effect on the war in Syria, the war in Syria!'
Weather Channel senior meteorologist Jonathan Erdman told the Huffington Post Limbaugh's argument for a 'hurricane drought' were misleading.
He said: 'The fact is, you don't need a Category 3+ hurricane to produce major impacts, including storm surge flooding, rainfall flooding and damaging winds, among others.'
Mr Erdman listed 10 extremely damaging storms in the last 11 years, including Hurricanes Sandy, Irene and Ike.
