Hurricane Matthew's devastating storm surges have caused widespread coastal flooding in north and central Florida, with several towns effectively under water. The hurricane, which has already claimed more than 840 victims in the Caribbean and two in the US, has spent most of Friday barreling up Florida's east coast at roughly 12mph, bringing with it winds of up to 120mph. As of 5pm, weakened slightly to a category 2 hurricane over the Atlantic, but was still generating winds of 110mph, having passed St Augustine and on its way up to Jacksonville. Three people have been killed in the floods in the US so far, including one woman who was flattened by a tree.

The Augustine Alligator Farm and Zoological Park shared the precious picture of the marabou stork hiding out from the storm on Facebook Thursday night. The zoo said all storks were placed in the restrooms for safety this weekend, adding that other mammals and birds were also taken inside where they were given free range to frolic - and poop - where they pleased. The zoo's venomous snakes were 'double contained' for safety and baby alligators were placed in tubs full of water to wait out the storm.

The comedian has used a poem to reveal more details of the New York encounter which she first disclosed on Twitter, speaking of Ivanka's beauty and her husband Jared Kushner's charm. In her poem, titled '8 million to one', Rosie O'Donnell reveals that the encounter with Ivanka on Wednesday was on her first outing since the presidential debate on September 26. O'Donnell says in the poem she has been suffering from depression, which 'clings' to her and causes her to stay in bed for days at a time. But then Nobu Fifty Seven, an upscale Manhattan restaurant, O'Donnell reveals how she did not recognize Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner. When O'Donnell's dining companion told her who it was, she wanted to leave but eventually introduced herself to them and they talked for four minutes. She says Ivanka was 'absurdly kind' and Jared had a 'calming charm', while her own voice was 'shaky' and 'quiet'.

The 69-year-old retired talk show host revealed that he was 'proud' that a segment from The Late Show showing him poking fun at Trump ended up in Hillary Clinton's attack ad, and claimed that if he still had his bully pulpit, he 'would have gone right after' the GOP hopeful.

Brittanee Marie Drexel, 17 (inset), traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, from Rochester, New York, with some friends without telling her parents, and disappeared without a trace on April 25, 2009. This past summer, the FBI revealed that Drexel had been raped, murdered and left in an alligator pit about an hour from the hotel in McClellanville, where she is believed to have been held in a house for at least three days. On Friday, Dawn and Chad Drexel appeared on Dr. Phil (the couple pictured together in the studio, main), sharing for the first-time information they have received about what happened to their daughter. No charges have ever been filed and the body has never been found.

UPDATED Francois Graftieaux (left), who has never married and lives quietly on the Algarve, is convinced he is the Duke's grandson. This week, Graftieaux laid out his years of research, together with some fanciful speculation, in a memoir published in France under the mischievous title The Man Who Should Have Been King. According to him, his father was the result of an affair between the future King Edward VIII (right) and his grandmother Marie-Leonie Graftieaux, a dirt-poor Parisian seamstress.

The 15-year-old cancer patient who dueted with Florence & The Machine in a viral video earlier this year has died. Karinya Chen, who battled bone cancer for five years, passed away in Austin, Texas. She touched millions of people around the world when she perfectly harmonized with the British Grammy-winning band while lying in her hospice ward in May. Just five days before her death on Saturday, she spoke with remarkable strength as she contemplated her disease. She said: 'I think the biggest thing is not to worry and fear.... You just have to remember that there's always tomorrow and if you take it one day at a time and just tell yourself don't worry and don't take things for granted and tell yourself that you are loved and you are blessed then it makes it a lot easier to fight.'

Although for Clooney, whose recent films include the appositely entitled Money Monster and who commands about $27 million per movie, this is not quite so eyewatering. Despite Amal's grandstanding as a champion of the downtrodden in her work as a human rights lawyer, it's the latest evidence that she's also rather fond of the finer things in life. The Clooneys' latest acquisition, which will not be completed until next spring, takes their property portfolio to four, at an estimated worth of £175m. Not too shabby for a couple famed for their social conscience.

The dog was wrapped in tight coils and she could only watch as the 6m serpent devoured him. She said she'd heard loud noises from the dog earlier that evening while she was trying to sleep upstairs but she hadn't thought to check on her canine pal. Thai volunteers arrived at her home with snake-catching equipment but it was too late.

Amy Schumer is considering buying a $15million property on New York's Upper West Side. The Beaux Arts brownstone overlooking the Hudson River has eight fireplaces and an elevator! Amy recently took a tour of the swanky nine-bedroom pad, which was originally owned by a silk merchant. However Schumer - who is known for her salty stand-up - kept things casual by showing up in her running clothes.

JonBenet Ramsey's brother has sued a forensic pathologist, Dr Werner Spitz, who went on TV in Detroit and accused him of murdering the six-year-old in Colorado in 1996. Burke Ramsey was interviewed last month on the TV show Dr Phil. On it he Dr Phil asked him what he would say to people who think he killed JonBenet and he replied: 'I don't know what to say to that, because I know that's not what happened...Look at the evidence or the lack thereof.'

Courtland Garner (pictured inset), who filmed a couple who had overdosed on heroin and were lying unconscious on a Memphis sidewalk, is defending his decision to post the video of them to Facebook Live. Garner and others in the crowd can be heard laughing at Carla Hiers (right), 59, and her 60-year-old husband, Ronald (left), who are both long-time drug addicts. A driver who was passing called 911, and emergency responders were able to revive the married couple. Garner is unapologetic, saying he was not the first person on the scene and knew someone already had called for help. He said he shared the video to alert children to the dangers of doing drugs.

Puberty makes everyone's teenage years a dragged-out nightmare. But at least we all going through it at more or less the same time. Imagine hitting that awkward phase in your late 20s. That is exactly what happened to E! News reporter Ken Baker - whose memoir is the subject of a new movie starring Jane Lynch: The Late Bloomer. Baker, now 46, experienced an almost unheard-of hormonal transition due to a benign brain tumor pressing on his pituitary gland. The tumor caused a hormone imbalance in his body called hyperprolactinemia, which over-produced the female hormone prolactin, stunting his natural development. It meant his body lactated milk from the nipples, 10 times more than a breastfeeding mother. His body was soft and lacking muscle. And he had absolutely no sex drive.

The clip, filmed in Russia, shows a lorry travelling along a rural highway. The vehicle can then be seen dramatically swerving out of the path of a pedestrian standing in the road. The walker, wearing a long white coat with a black hat, then ambles onto the side of the road and out of the view of the camera. The video uploader wrote: 'This video has been hailed as proof of teleportation.' The uploader added: 'Some people think the photos depict an instance in which time travel or teleportation was caught on tape.'

These pictures have all been submitted as part of this year's Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards and after more than 2,200 entries, the shortlist of 40 has been finalised by the judges. Each one will be gunning for seven different categories at the awards, which also promotes conservation. The amazing images range from laughing lions to headless penguins and everything in between.

NEW Laura Levis (pictured left and write on her wedding day), a writer and editor at the Harvard Magazine and Harvard Gazette, died last month aged 34 of a devastating asthma attack in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her husband Peter DeMarco (pictured right and inset with Levis), also a writer in the Greater Boston area, still remembers the names of the doctors, nurses, social workers, respiratory specialists and members of the cleaning staff who cared for his wife of two years and their family. The hospital's staff, DeMarco wrote, made sure to explain procedures and answer the family's questions patiently. They 'didn't see a thing' when he smuggled in their cat Cola for a final goodbye. But most of all, DeMarco is thankful for the last hour he ever got to spend alone with Levis.

NEW Fans of body art have flocked from all over the world to get inkings from some of the country's leading artists at the third annual two-day Israel Tattoo Convention in Tel Aviv. Among them is Magneto (bottom left and top right), from Berlin, whose entire face is covered in inkings, including his eyeballs.

The amazing clip, believed to have been filmed in South Korea, begins with the sugar glider preparing to jump as the woman extends her hand. The black and white critter throws itself from the top of a door and soars through the air before making a perfect landing. The footage has been viewed more than 22 million times since being posted on social media three days ago.

A woman's fitness fail ended up with funny results. Alexandra Knowles posted a video on Instagram in 2014 showing her attempting a burpee in July of that year. However, it seems she may not have checked the height of a ceiling lamp before trying out the move. While jumping in the air, Knowles hit her head on the lamp and ended up on the ground. Her Instagram page indicates that she is based in Canada.

Unnerving footage from Iceland shows a low-flying passenger plane flying through a thunderstorm and being struck by a massive bolt of lightning as shocked onlookers film the drama. The plane appears to be trying to gain altitude and avoid the worst of the storm, but the electrical bolt strikes the plane before it can escape the violent weather.

The thrillseekers, filmed in Orlando, were recorded on camera last Saturday. The terrified female rider shuts her eyes tightly as the slingshot fires into the air before the pair make some amusing facial expressions. At the end of the ride she finally concedes: 'That was pretty cool.'
