Separate worlds: Ben Affleck steps out in New York while Jennifer Garner takes care of the kids back home in LA
They've managed to put their own feelings aside to co-parent their three children.
But however cordial Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner attempt to make their divorce, they struggle to look happy in one another's company.
However the two both had smiles on their faces as they stepped out on Friday - on opposite sides of the U.S.

Jennifer was taking care of business in Los Angeles, near the Brentwood home she and Ben bought during their marriage.
The 44-year-old did the school run - emerging with a thank you note for her help in class - before hitting the gym with a friend.
Meanwhile her estranged other half was happily out and about in New York.
The Accountant star is busily promoting his new film.

Ben, 44, wore a red sweater and grey trousers for his outing, while Jen was wrapped in a warm sweater.
The couple split last year but are both reportedly living in separate residences on their Pacific Palisades, California compound so they can try to keep things as normal as possible for their youngsters.
They have been seen going to dinner - both with their kids and without - although rarely look too thrilled to be with one another.
'Modern family' Despite their split, Jen and her ex Ben are attempting to co-parent their kids
'We are definitely a modern family,' Jennifer told Access Hollywood's Natalie Morales in August. 'We’re doing really well.'
The actress - who has daughters Violet, 10, and Seraphina seven, and son Samuel, four, with Ben - says she always mindful of the fact her kids are watching her.
She told Today Parents: 'I don't think empathy is something you can drill in someone's head.

'You have to have faith that while your kids can seem to be selfish and concerned only about the word 'mine' sometimes, overall, they are watching you really carefully, and if you care about other people, they will too.
'I try to be the best version of myself and to have faith that they're watching me as carefully when I do something right as they do when I roll through a stop sign.'
