Man extradited to NSW for child abuse

A 67-year-old man has been extradited from New Zealand and will face a NSW court charged with 252 child sexual assault offences.

The man, who had been living in Christchurch in New Zealand, arrived in Australia on Tuesday and was refused bail.

He has been charged in relation to allegations of multiple child sexual assault offences committed in the 1970s and 80s at a school near Morisset in Lake Macquarie.

Lake Macquarie detectives started extradition proceedings in November 2011.

He will appear in Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday.
