The show is gearing up for it's sixth season, having first premiered in October 2011.

The new season sees the thriller return to the US, after seasons filmed in Germany and South Africa.

The upcoming season will take place between a presidential election and the swearing-in period, a time of unsettled transition in the halls of power in Washington, the shows creators have previously said.

The gripping drama has also earned its fair share of awards, with Claire picking up widespread acclaim and two Emmys and two Golden Globes for her role as Carrie.

Aside from her busy TV show schedule, the My So Called Life actress - who shares three-year-old son Cyrus with 41-year-old actor husband Hugh Dancy -  made time to film a movie.

The new comedy, Brigsby Bear, which also stars Andy Samberg and Greg Kinnear, is due out next year.

Also attending the PaleyFest panel was actor Mandy Patinkin, who plays Claire's prickly mentor Saul Berenson.
