The concierge who led armed robbers to Kim Kardashian’s bedroom in Paris has broken his silence to explain why he remained so calm during the £10 million jewel heist.

In an open message to the US reality star, he claimed that his composed demeanour saved both of their lives and that he had little choice but to do as the gang asked.

‘Dear Kim, when you feel the cold steel of a gun at your neck, it is the moment when remaining calm can mean the difference of life or death, both our lives,’ he is reported as saying.

'I hope you are feeling better.’

The first explanation about his behaviour was reported by the French celebrity magazine Closer.

His composure while the gangsters put a gun to the star’s head saved both of their lives, he reportedly claimed.

Kim appeared to criticise the hotel worker in reports circulated in the USA in which she described how ‘calm’ the man remained during the terrifying raid at her apartment in the early hours of Monday morning.

The concierge opened the door of £25,000-a-month suite of rooms with a master key enabling the thieves to confront the frightened reality TV star in her luxury bedroom.

With a gun to her head she directed the robbers to her jewellery – including her £3.5 million engagement ring – and feared she would be murdered or raped. She was then bound and gagged and locked in her bathroom.

Kim asked the concierge, who was brought into her apartment by the gang, if she was going to die.

His calm ‘I don’t know’ response and his relaxed demeanour throughout the raid, has been questioned by the star, according to reports.

Meanwhile further details of the identities of the Paris armed robbers have emerged.

The jewel thieves were ‘native French-speakers aged between 40 and 50 and European [white]’, according to the descriptions given to police by the hotel concierge and Kim herself, France’s BFMTV reported today [Friday].

The five-handed gang are understood to have arrived at the exclusive Pourtales Hotel on bicycles in the early hours of Monday morning.

The robbers tricked their way into the star’s Paris home by convincing the concierge they were police officers.

They said simply: ‘It’s urgent – we must see Miss Kardashian.’

The armed gang then put a gun to the hotel workers neck and told him to take them to the star’s apartment – or be killed.

Sources close to the investigation into the jewel heist claim the concierge was left with few options when he was confronted by the gang posing as policemen and armed with hand-guns.

‘There really wasn’t anything the concierge could do when the guns came out,’ the source told MailOnline.

‘The body guards never would have let me the men upstairs if they had been there.

‘They would have stopped the robbers from getting to Kim and putting a gun to her head or died trying. That is what they are trained to do.

‘But this was a hotel night porter. There was nothing he could do.

‘He had to let the robbers into Kim’s apartment or they would have killed him.’
