Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera should have been sent off for his dangerous high tackle on Joe Allen
- Ander Herrera was given a yellow card for a high tackle on Joe Allen
- Bobby Madley was lenient when Antonio Valencia dived in on Eric Pieters
- It was a 50-50 call whether to disallow Arsenal's winning goal at Burnley
Former Premier League referee and former Graham Poll gives his take on the major talking points from the weekend.
Here he looks at whether Bobby Madley was right to give Manchester United midfielder a yellow card for his tackle on Joe Allen.
The Sportsmail columnist also examines whether Arsenal's last minute winner against Burnley should have been allowed to stand...

Ander Herrera caught Joe Allen with a dangerous high tackle at Old Trafford on Sunday

Referee Bobby Madley chose only to give the Spanish midfielder a yellow card
Bobby Madley did Manchester United a favour by choosing to show Ander Herrera a yellow card instead of the red he deserved for a dangerous high tackle on Joe Allen.
When a referee sees a lunging challenge he must determine whether it is likely to endanger the safety of the opponent.
Earlier in the game, Madley chose to be correctly lenient when Antonio Valencia dived in on Eric Pieters, but that challenge was low and controlled.
The contrast with Herrera’s challenge was clear for all except Madley to see.

Laurent Koscienly bundled home a late goal for Arsenal during their 1-0 win over Burnley
Referee Craig Pawson couldn’t see the last-minute incident involving Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Laurent Koscielny and even if he had, it is a 50-50 call.
I watched the replays three times and I still don’t know whether it was deliberate handball on Koscielny’s part.
The defender’s arms are only up because he was trying to play the ball with his feet.
