'I will never put myself in that position again': Professor Green hits out at his relationship with ex-wife Millie Mackintosh as he vows not to 'parade' future romances

His new single Back On The Market suggests he is fully over his break-up from ex-wife Millie Mackintosh.

And in an interview with the BBC's Asian Network, Professor Green, 32, revealed he will approach relationships differently going forward.

When asked if the attention surrounding his relationship with Millie, 27, helped his music career, Pro told presenter Preeya Kalidas: 'No, I think it’s of detriment. I think it definitely was to me. When you look at where I was positioned and the world that I then kind of got dragged into unwillingly.

'I wasn’t naïve. I thought there would be a bit of it, but I didn’t think it would become what it did.'

He admitted that the public interest around the breakdown of his relationship had begun to subside, and claimed it's not something he would ever want again.

The musician, whose real name is Stephen Manderson, said: 'Yeah but I don’t sell my relationships. That’s not me. I’m not parading my relationships and I will never do that again. I will never ever, ever put myself in that position again where a relationship becomes…that’s not happening.'

While his latest track may appear to reference the aftermath of his relationship, Pro is adamant his next album won't be a break-up record.

'You know, I’m not Adele. I’m not going to make a heartbreak album,' he explained. 'I’m much more focused on looking forward.'

Shortly after the couple's marriage ended in February, it quickly emerged that Millie had rekindled the flame with an ex-love.

She now says she is 'so happy' with former Made In Chelsea co-star and ex-boyfriend Hugo Taylor, and they have been inseparable since reuniting.

Meanwhile, it's well-known that Pro and Rita Ora are good pals, and there have been rumours in the past there could be more to their relationship.

When Preeya brought up the pair hanging out, Pro said: 'Don’t know what you’re on about mate? For as long as there’s plausible deniability. You’re cheeky you are.

Preeya continued: 'You’ve gone red!'

To which Pro responded: 'I haven’t gone red, I definitely haven’t gone red. Don’t say it coz people can’t see me. I’ve gone green, I’m wearing green, I am green, er gangrene!'

The Read All About It hitmaker also spoke of his admiration for Calvin Harris and the way he releases songs as soon as they're ready.

He said: 'Do you know what it is for me, I just want to put music out. I rate Calvin Harris for this. He goes, you know what, I’m not making an album right now, I’m putting out songs as soon as they’re finished.

'If a song is good to go, it’s going out, and I think we’ve got the freedom to do that now. People want new music. I wasn’t a big fan of the immediacy of everything, but I’m coming round to it. It’s a great way of just putting new music out and going and performing it.'
