Donald Trump may have given the strongest hint yet he will attack Hillary Clinton's personal life in Sunday's debate, by promoting comments from a woman who accused Bill Clinton of rape.
The embattled Republican nominee, who has previously threatened to use the former president's infidelities in his battle Clinton, retweeted two posts from Juanita Broaddrick on Saturday.
Despite the fact his own campaign has been pushed to the brink by a recording from 2005 in which he brags about groping women without their consent and details how he tried to seduce a married woman, Trump was back on Twitter to share the posts.
Donald Trump has shared unsubstantiated rape accusations made against Bill Clinton on social media
The first post from Broaddrick read: 'How many times must it be said? Actions speak louder than words. DT said bad things! HRC threatened me after BC raped me.'
Trump followed the first retweet moments later by sharing a second comment from Broaddrick.
'Hillary calls Trump's remarks "horrific" while she lives with and protects a "Rapist". Her actions are horrific,' it read.
Bill Clinton has long denied Broaddrick's accusations, and Hillary has declined to address them.
Juanita Broaddrick (pictured) has long claimed Bill Clinton 'raped' her in 1978. Bill has denied the accusations, and charged were never brought against the former president
Donald Trump retweeted Broaddrick's post where she again made the accusations against Bill Clinton on Saturday
Charges were never brought.
Trump bringing them up appears t contradict claims he made on Friday, when the Republican nominee said he would not bring up Bill Clinton's past.
'I want to win this election on my policies for the future, not on Bill Clinton's past,' Trump told told the New York Post.
Trump's tweeting comes after a day that saw more than 50 prominent Republican figures either call for him to drop out of the presidential race, or denounce the comments he made on the recording released by the Washington Post on Friday.
Broaddrick accused Hillary Clinton of 'protecting a rapist' in her tweets on Saturday, which were then shared by Donald Trump
'You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful -- I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait,' he boasts in the video, which was recorded during a visit to the lot of Access Hollywood in 2005.
'And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p---y. You can do anything.'
He was also heard speaking about how he tried to seduce married woman and Entertainment Tonight co-host Nancy O'Dell.
'I moved on her and I failed. I'll admit it. I did try and f*** her. She was married', Trump says in the recording.
Bill Clinton has denied the allegations made against him by Broaddrick. Hillary has refused to comment on them
Donald Trump shared the accusations on social media on a day that saw more than 50 prominent Republicans either denounce him or withdraw their support for his candidacy
'And I moved on her very heavily... 'I moved on her like a b***h, but I couldn't get there. And she was married.'
The scores of Republicans who have slammed Trump for the comments include his running mate Mike Pence, Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, Reince Priebus, and even his wife, Melania - who called the remarks 'unacceptable and offensive'.
Senator and 2008 presidential nominee John McCain and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice are the two highest profile Republicans to pull their support for Trump.
But Trump remained defiant, tweeting: The media and establishment want me out of the race so badly - I WILL NEVER DROP OUT OF THE RACE, WILL NEVER LET MY SUPPORTERS DOWN! #MAGA.'
The second presidential debate will take place at 9pm on Sunday at Washington University in St Louis.
