The Bee Gee's Barry Gibb announces his Australian tour will begin in April... after revealing his brothers 'didn't ever want him to make a solo album'
He made up a third of one of the most successful pop bands of all time, with catchy hits like Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, and Night Fever.
And now the last surviving Bee Gees member Barry Gibb has taken a leap of faith by releasing his first solo album in 32 years on Friday.
The 70-year-old British musician has also revealed he will be touring Australia in April next year to promote In The Now, beginning with Queensland.
Making a comeback: The last surviving Bee Gees member Barry Gibb has revealed he will be touring Australia in April next year to promote his new solo album In The Now
Barry will also headline Byron Bay Bluesfest, which takes place from April 13 to 17.
Other prominent artists scheduled to perform include Neil Young, Patti Smith, Santana and the Doobie Brothers.
While he is the only Bee Gees member still alive - his brothers Maurice and Robin died in 2003 and 2012 - Barry claims his family will still play a role in his new album.
Because In The Now is written with help from Barry's two sons, Stephen and Ashley.
And then there was one: Barry has revealed his late brothers Maurice and Robin 'really didn't ever want (him) to make a solo album'
In an interview with The Telegraph on Friday, Barry also claimed his brothers 'really didn't ever want (him) to make a solo album.'
'And I probably felt the same about them,' he added.
'We wanted to be close and we wanted to be individually recognised and we all felt threatened by each other.'
Barry is no stranger to Australia, as the Gibb family emigrated from England to Queensland in the late 1950s.
In fact, The Bee Gees achieved their first chart success Down Under with the single Spicks and Specks.

The Bee Gees continued to play in Australia many times after returning to England.
Last year, Barry made a visit as a favor to his close friend Olivia Newton-John and performed at her annual gala event.
He previously returned to the stage in 2013 with the Mythology tour.
The In The New tour will open at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on April 5.
