A judge today offered parents the agonising choice of deciding whether they are told if their child was abused by nursery paedophile Vanessa George.

Mr Justice Royce, who confirmed that the 39-year-old had named some of her victims, said it would be a matter of choice whether this information is passed on to parents.

George, along with accomplices Colin Blanchard, 38, and Angela Allen, 39, is awaiting sentence after pleading guilty to a catalogue of child abuse.

The judge told Bristol Crown Court: 'I have been informed that there has been some further information passed by Vanessa George to the crown.

'I haven't seen any of that material and it is important that I see that material.

'I also take the view that, as I indicated on the last occasion, if parents want to find out whether their child has been abused and if that information has been given then they should be in a position to do so.

'If they do not want to know, and I fully understand why some parents should not want to know, then the information should not be thrust upon them - it should be a parental choice.'

At the last hearing Mr Justice Royce urged George to 'do the decent thing' and name which children she had abused at Little Ted's Nursery in Plymouth, Devon.

George, Blanchard, and Allen admitted a string of sex offences against children at Bristol Crown Court last month.

Guilty: Angela Allen, 39, and Colin Blanchard, 38, are awaiting sentence after admitting to a catalogue of child abuse

George has pleaded guilty to to sex crimes and child porn images offences.

The trio were due to be sentenced at Bristol Crown Court next week but this has now been adjourned until the week beginning December 14.

A further hearing into the case will take place on November 11.

Mother-of-eight Tracy Lyons, 39, from Portsmouth, has also been charged as part of the investigation.

She is accused of sexual abuse of a child, taking an indecent image of a child, and distributing indecent images of a child.

Lyons has been remanded in custody after appearing at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on October 10 but has not yet entered a plea.
