Chelsea and City suffer blow in Neymar pursuit as Santos star pens new deal

Neymar has signed a new deal with Santos in a move that ends recent speculation over a move to Real Madrid or Manchester City.

Recent reports had suggested that the 19-year-old Brazilian was set to move to Spain in 2012 while City were said to be ready to hijack the move. Chelsea have also long been linked with the striker.

But Neymar's new deal, which, like his previous contract, runs to 2015, sees his buy-out clause increased which could put off potential buyers.

The striker's agent Wagner Ribeiro has confirmed the agreement and said his client was delighted at having the chance to stay on.

'Neymar is happy to be able to remain with Santos until at least 2014, after that he will decide where to go,' Ribeiro said.

The deal will be partly financed by the Banco do Brasil, who had previously contacted Neymar with a view to mounting an advertising campaign involving the star.

Santos are now expected to announce the news officially as details over Neymar's new deal emerge.

The Brazilian is expected to earn around €1.2 million per month in wages and his buy-out clause, believed to be around €45m, is set to increase.
