Arthur takes reins as Aussie legend Buchanan lies in wait with Kiwi Test

South African Mickey Arthur became Australia's first foreign coach and immediately had the pressure increased on him by his most illustrious predecessor.

John Buchanan, the man who coached Australia in their years of world domination, will be waiting for Arthur in his new role as New Zealand's director of cricket when his new and old teams meet in a two-Test series starting on December 1.

Buchanan, who epitomised the cosmopolitan world of coaching by also doing some consultancy work for the ECB, says Australia could be vulnerable.

Buchanan says sweeping changes in Australian cricket, since the review into their game in the wake of their Ashes loss, could unsettle Michael Clarke's team.

'There's definitely a vulnerability there,' said Buchanan. 'There are a lot of things happening which are going to take time to gel.'

Arthur is not concerned about nationality.

'I don't think it matters where I come from,' he said. 'Ultimately you want a guy who is perceived to be the best, irrespective of his nationality.'

Haroon Lorgat has also announced he will leave his role as chief executive of the International Cricket Council at the end of his contract next year.

The South African has tired of having his hands tied by the ICC's executive board which, led by India, calls the shots in world cricket.
