Mourinho plotting Van Persie move as Madrid chase in-form Arsenal striker

Real Madrid are eyeing a summer swoop for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.

The Dutchman has been in scintillating form and leads the Premier League goalscoring charts having scored 33 goals in 32 games this calender year.

But Van Persie is out of contract in 18 months time and has yet to begin talks about extending his deal.

Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is aware of the striker's situation and, according to the Sunday Mirror, he is considering making a move at the end of the season

Van Persie has said that he will leave contract discussions until the end of the season in order to determine whether the Gunners are on track to end their barren run.

Manchester City have also placed Van Persie at the top of their wish list and they could offer him a staggering £250,000-a-week.
