A girl of three has become a global internet hit after her father uploaded a video of her climbing up a door frame.

Sofya Dickson has been nicknamed Spider Girl for her antics, which in only a week have been viewed by more than 300,000 people.

The popularity of the video, which was put on YouTube only so Sofya’s auntie could see her climbing abilities, has astonished her family.

In the 38-second video, Sofya effortlessly scales the kitchen door, repeating: ‘I can do it, I can do it.’

Don't look down! Sofya said she wanted to climb the door frame so she could be as tall as her mother and father

Sofya’s father Peter, 39, filmed her clambering up a door frame in the kitchen at the family home in Loughborough.

People across the world have viewed the video which shows the tiny girl 'walking' up to the top of the door frame while chanting to herself 'I can do it! I can do it!'.

In the video the girl beams while her father tells her she's climbed quite enough, before almost touching her head to the top of the frame, then gently sliding down and jumping on to the floor.

It's Spidergirl! The adventurous youngster has certainly got a head for heights

Mr Dickson, a college lecturer, put the film on YouTube just a week ago for his sister in Oxford to watch.

He said: 'Sofya taught herself to climb the door frame.

'She said she did it to be as tall as mummy and daddy but I suspect another reason was to try and reach the sweets which we hide on top of the fridge!

'I had a lot of comments saying I should take her to the local rock climbing centre, so I might give them a call and see if they would let a three-year-old through the door.'

It would appear that the tiny gymnast has obviously had a bit of practise, because she placed pillows below on the floor beneath herself in case she tumbled off.

Sure footing: Sofya's father Peter suspects his little girl might have been climbing so she could reach some sweets that were hidden on the top of the fridge

Her father says he has been stunned by the worldwide interest which includes requests from American television stations to broadcast the 40 second clip and an offer by a Californian marketing company to secure Sofya commercial deals.

But Peter and his wife Saziye, 35, who also have nine-month-old twin boys, have decided to donate money raised by the footage to the charity Save the Children.

Peter said: 'I took the film on my smart phone about a week ago.

'Later the same day I mentioned it while chatting on the phone to my sister.

'She told me to put it on YouTube so she could see it. I had never put anything on YouTube before.

'The response has been quite simply overwhelming. I’ve had American TV on wanting permission to broadcast it and a marketing agency in California wanting to represent Sofya.

'it’s all very flattering but and I’ve already said that any money made by me will go to Save the Children.

'I think my daughter is too young to realise she is a world-wide sensation.

'When I tried to explain it to Sofya her main concern was would her friends at nursery be able to watch it.'
