Going for gold in the jet-setting stakes! David Beckham takes three flights between London and LA in as many days... and it's all for the Olympics

David Beckham has a busy diary.

The jetsetting football ace was in London on Tuesday pictured with iconic boxer Muhammed Ali, who was being honoured at the Sports For Peace gala, before being  whisked away to America and then right back to blighty - landing at Heathrow today.

Combining his football commitments and his role as ambassador for London 2012 mean Beckham has been at the making the most of his private jet.

He didn't have too long to celebrate, as the no-doubt exhausted global superstar was then taken back to London on a private jet in time for the opening games at the Olympics.

Beckham was pictured touching down at Stansted Airport on Thursday, dressed casually in jeans, T-shirt and a beanie hat.

And the much sought after star didn't have much to rest - he was soon pictured in a smart suit outside 10 Downing Street, where he was meeting David Cameron as part of his duties as Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.

Beckham was delivering a letter signed by celebrities including Claudia Schiffer, Whoopi Goldberg, Orlando Bloom and Robbie Williams - urging the Prime Minister to help combat malnutrition against young children all over the world.

Beckham said: 'Stunting - when children don't get the right nutrients in the first 1,000 days of life - is the hidden crisis stopping millions of children around the world reaching their potential. It's irreversible. It means children get trapped in lives of poverty.

'During the coming weeks all eyes will be on London for the greatest show on earth. As a UNICEF Ambassador, I am asking the Prime Minister to use the global spotlight on our nation to make children around the world the real winners of these Games.'

And Beckham will be called up again on Friday, where he will part of the eagerly awaited opening ceremony of the Olympics

It has been reported that Beckham will perform with a flaming ball.

He remains coy however, only telling ITV News earlier this week: 'I’m playing a small part in the Opening Ceremony, which I am excited about. I’d love to tell you the details but I can’t. It’s exciting, it’s going to be good.I am honoured to be involved because, obviously, I was involved in the start process with this seven years ago.'
