It's not a strip show! Val Chmerkovskiy dances in just his Speedos in raunchy Dancing With The Stars semi-finals
|
Viewers didn't know where to look during the raunchy semi-finals of Dancing With the Stars on Monday when Kelly Monaco’s partner, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, stripped to his extremely tight Speedos.
The couple were in the middle of a passionate ‘Surfer-themed Flamenco’ when the muscular dancer lost his entire costume - bar the trunks - and splashed erotically in a small pool with the General Hospital actress.
‘Kelly, I think you’ve been upstaged by the Speedos,’ screamed judge Bruno Tonioli afterwards.

‘Never work with Speedos or animals,’ he joked as the judges awarded the near-naked pair 25.5 points.
‘I just want everyone to know that it’s cold in here,’ laughed Val as he attempted to cover his bulge while being interviewed by host Brooke Burke Charve.
The flesh-flashing performance was part of the live semi-finals for DWTS’s All Star season. The five remaining couples had to concoct a bizarrely themed dance, chosen by their competitors, and a routine to a Michael Jackson hit.
Covered up: To start with the pair were more respectable... but they began to shed clothing as the dance went on

What a performance: It certainly grabbed the audience's attention
No shame: 'I just want everyone to know that it's cold in here,' laughed Val
Each King of Pop song came from the album Bad - to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1989 record. To oversee the proceedings Michael Jackson’s mother and family matriarch Katherine Jackson, 82, was seated in the audience.
While Kelly and Val may have shown the most skin, they didn’t earn the most points. Athletic Shawn Johnson came out top again - only dropping one point for her Argentine Tango to the title track Bad.
‘It lacked a little passion,’ said Carrie Ann Inaba, who was the only judge to not award the couple 10 for the dance.

Impressive: With her partner Derek Hough former Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson gained three 10s for her 'flawless footwork' and impressive lifts during her peculiar Bhangra Nightrider dance
‘It was beautiful but needed extra intimacy and drama - having perfect movement is not quite enough,’ she said.
With her partner Derek Hough the former Olympic gymnast, 20, gained three 10s for her ‘flawless footwork’ and impressive lifts during her peculiar ‘Bhangra Nightrider’ dance.
‘Mixing Bhangra and Nightrider is worse than ice cream and mustard,’ said Hough before they wowed the judges.
‘A mega, mega hit,’ shouted Bruno before the pair were awarded the perfect score of 30 out of 30.
‘I still don’t really know what Bhangra is,’ admitted a very puffed-out Shawn when it was over.
Second: Next on the leader board was Melissa Rycroft and her partner Tony Dovolani who danced around a campfire clad in fake animal hide for their primitive Cave Man Hustle

‘That has to be the most effective use of animal print since Raquel Welch in One Million Years B.C,’ said Bruno.
The prehistoric-themed dance gained them 27.5 while their later Argentine Tango to Dirty Diana brought in the perfect score of 30.
‘That was beyond anything I could have imagined for you,’ gushed Carrie Ann Inaba as Melissa began to cry with happiness.
‘The lifts were out of this world.’
Close behind the former Bachelor contestant in the running was Apolo Anton Ohno, who dressed as a mime artist for his circus-themed ‘Big Top Jazz’ routine.

Not on top form: Despite gaining 57 points in total the exhaustion was starting to show on the Olympic speed skater who made a couple of slips when trying to catch his partner Karina Smirnoff while executing some ambitious choreography

‘Most of the dismounts were very sloppy,’ said judge Carrie Ann Inaba,
‘We are so tired,’ admitted Apolo, 30, who still managed to gain 27 points for the dance. ‘We trained for over 45 hours this week.’
Later his erotic Rumba to Man in the Mirror redeemed him - earning the full 30 points.

‘It was a Loony Tunes version of James Bond,’ said Bruno before the couple were awarded 27 points, leaving them in joint last place with Kelly and Val.

The former NFL running back and father of five later dressed in deep maroon and black for a sexy Tango to Leave Me Alone.
‘I like the predatory power, you just need a little more refinement,’ said Bruno.
Last dance of the night was Val and Kelly’s Rumba to I Just Can't Stop Loving You.
Giving their views: The judges in action
‘Have we saved the sexiest Rumba to last?’ asked host Tom Bergeron after Val was shown waxing lyrical about Kelly’s dancing ability, poise, personality and body.
‘You are such a petite woman but you have these…’ said Val as he gestured to the former Playgirl’s ample breasts.
‘We have to channel our inner love for each other in this dance,’ he told her. ‘It’s already week nine and I still can’t stop loving you,’ he added.
Kelly, 36, wasn’t feeling quite so hot: ‘The Rumba is so intimate and I have problems with intimacy,” she said before they performed the saucy routine.
The final few: On Tuesday night two couples will be eliminated from the competition
Wrapped in a sheer crystal studded leotard Kelly earned 25.5 for the performance, which ended in a long kiss.
‘That was smouldering, driven by desire, consumed by lust. The chemistry between you two is literally singing,’ said Bruno.
‘You were so into it,’ he added.

I watched the show last night and loved it. That being said there were some glaring omissions in two styles of dancing which the judges either did not realise(?) or chose to ignore. In Bhangra - which I thought Derek Hough was very disrespectful of and showed his ignorance, a major part of the dance is head movement. The Bhangra dancers use a side to side head movement which takes place when they are motionless. This is intrinsic to the dance. It was missing - totally - in Houghs' choreography and not picked up on by the judges. Great routine but missing vital element. 9.5 not 10! Val and Kelly's Flamenco missed a vital element also. The rhythmic stamping of the feet and the movement of the hands - which would usually hold castanets - IS the dance. The body plays second fiddle so to speak. Normally performed to music from an acoustic guitar the stamping of the feet and the hands playing the castanets adds sound to the fire and drama of the dance. Worthy of 9 not 9.5.
