If this was such a crunch game for QPR... what was referee Foy doing pulling a funny face in the official pre-match photo?

QPR and West Brom captains Clint Hill and Chris Brunt had their game faces on ahead of Saturday’s clash at Loftus Road. But referee Chris Foy, it seems, did not.

The official was pictured sticking his tongue out at the camera before the game as he lined up with the Rangers’ mascots.

Although QPR boss Harry Redknapp might have found this amusing before the game he had nothing nice to say afterwards.

He was left fuming as his side went two goals down as Rob Green scored an own goal which he thought was a foul.

Marc-Antoine Fortune seemed to block the keeper who then fumbled the ball into his own net.

Redknapp’s rage increased after that when his side were denied a penalty for a clear handball by Liam Ridgewell.

‘I think they were awful decisions. I think the ref got it completely wrong,’ said an irate Redknapp.

‘It was a blatant foul (on Green). How can the keeper play the ball when a fella’ is backing him over the line?

‘He can’t get around him. If he pushes him over or out the way it’s a penalty.

‘He had no intention of getting the ball he just wanted to stop the ‘keeper getting to the ball. It was obstruction, how can it stand?

‘I asked the linesman how did he not see the penalty.

‘Ridgewell’s hand was up there, it’s the most blatant handball and he couldn’t see it.

‘The linesman said it was murky down in that corner and he couldn’t see it, maybe he should go to Specsavers or somewhere.’

Give the guy a break, It's christmas and he's having a bit of fun. All referees should have a sense of humour, its part of football! Alan Bristol
