Life after House: Hugh Laurie is almost unrecognisable while wandering the streets after move back to UK... as he gears up for album release
He made the transition from geeky British comedian to smouldering TV star in the US.
But since his breakthrough show House was cancelled last year, it seems that Hugh Laurie has moved his life back to London, and was almost unrecognisable as he was spotted walking through the streets near his home on Sunday.
Wearing baggy work-out gear and a green beanie hat, the 53-year-old looked comfortable with his life after the hit show, as he gears up to release his new album, Didn't It Rain.
Who's that guy? Hugh Laurie heads home from a fitness session in baggy gym clothes and a green beanie on Sunday, after moving back to UK when House finished last year
The star will launch his second blues album next month, continuing his next career transition from TV actor to musician.
But Hugh certainly isn't giving up on acting just yet, after landing himself a role in new film Tomorrowland opposite George Clooney.
He is set to start filming soon, so is clearly enjoying some downtime with his family in London before having to jet off again.
Still in character? Hugh looked a little grumpy as he wandered home, much like his most famous character on the hit Fox show, which ran for eight years
Breakthrough role: Hugh transformed himself from a geeky British comedian to an award-winning TV star in the US
And it seems that the one-time comedy partner of Stephen Fry is making the most of his time off, staying in shape while he's back home.
Looking a little scruffy and wearing a facial expression not entirely dissimilar to his grouchy character House, the star made his way home after his fitness session.
Hugh, who spent much of his time over the last eight years in the US while filming the successful Fox show, made the move back to the UK when it wrapped last year.
Another career change: Hugh is currently gearing up to release his second blues album next month
According to reports, Hugh and wife Jo, who live in Belsize Park in London with their three children, did consider moving to Los Angeles in 2008 while Hugh was still filming as he was in the US for nine months of the year.
However, they ultimately decided against it and when House finished and the star moved back to the British capital.
As the nasty, cane-wielding Dr. Gregory House on the TV drama, Hugh found American fame, was nominated for an Emmy award six times, twice won a Golden Globe, and became the highest paid actor on television.
The 2012 Guinness Book of World Records listed his salary at a whopping $700,000 an episode.
