Martha Stewart has confirmed that she will join Match.com in an effort to find her 'next Mr Right.'

The media mogul, 71, admitted last week that she almost joined the online dating site but failed to complete questions on the sign-up page because she couldn't take it seriously.

After some encouragement this morning from the Today Show, however, she agreed to formally join.

Hitting the dating scene: Martha Stewart has agreed to join Match.com after revealing in an interview on the Today Show that she is looking for her 'next Mr Right'

'Do you think I could possibly, maybe, find a match, like many of my employees?' she asked.

Match.com chief executive, Sam Yagan said she could get some great first dates out of it, but warned that she shouldn't expect to find a soulmate.

'I'd like to have breakfast with somebody. I'd like to go to bed with somebody. Sleep with somebody'

'I think finding a soulmate for you might be a little bit difficult, but I think first dates are easily doable,' he said.

Ms Stewart, who has two grandchildren, managed to shock longtime friend Matt Lauer when he asked if she would consider marrying again.

'It depends . . .' she replied. 'I'd like to have breakfast with somebody,' she admitted. 'I'd like to go to bed with somebody. Sleep with somebody.'

She also described what she was looking for in a man

'I put out youngish . . . meaning active [not an age range]' she clarified. 'Energetic, outdoors-ish, really smart . . . successful is important - for him - tall-ish . . .'

Though Ms Stewart said initially that she wouldn't use an alias because she wants to do her 'real thing', Mr Yagan advised her to use a pseudonym - and to refrain from posting photos, because 'it would be distracting to those initial conversations you have.'

'And I might get some crazies,' she quipped.

In Friday's early clip from the interview, which will air in full tomorrow and Wednesday, she told Mr Lauer of her initial Match.com effort: 'I tried filling out the application . . . but I started to laugh halfway down the page - it was, like, impossible!'

She admitted that she has been single for the past couple of years, and is ready to meet somebody new.

'I'm always looking, are you kidding, all women are always looking,' Ms Stewart said. 'I had a longtime boyfriend. That ended a couple of years ago. And I haven't found the next Mr Right.'

When asked if she likes dating, she replied: 'Oh yeah, love it!'

A stunned Mr Lauer then admitted that a friend had recently asked if he would set him up with the lifestyle doyenne.

How to stay youthful: Ms Stewart tells Mr Lauer that she works out 'every day' in her home gym, and writes in her book that sleep and sunscreen are two of her anti-aging essentials

'I didn't know what your situation was,' he said, explaining why he never passed on the message.

'For heaven's sake, I'll give you my phone number. All of them, I will give you,' she replied.

Ms Stewart is promoting her latest book, Living The Good Long Life, which focuses on health and wellness.

It sees her reveal how she herself stays both feeling and looking youthful.

She tells Mr Lauer that she works out 'every day' in her home gym, and writes in her book that sleep and sunscreen are two of her anti-aging essentials.

She says that she never even thought about aging until her mother passed away - and that she would set her emotional age as 'probably 45, 50 something like that.'

She adds that one of her favorite pieces of advice in her book is to stop complaining.

'Change what you can and accept what you cannot - which I still follow,' she said.

'I still complain, I'm kind of a complainer, but not about getting old. I complain about something that can be fixed,' she added.

Oh give it up Martha, just hire somebody to rub your feet in that nicely manicured garden. Bonus if he happens to do gardening on the side.

Seriously. She's very good looking, rich as hell, smart as hell and socializes with the richest, smartest and most successful people in the world...how is it no one has fixed her up? I know she's pushing her book, but Internet dating for Martha Stewart? A paid advertisement for the site or just a publicity gimmick? Hmmm.
