They played opposite each other as an FBI Agent and detective in the comedy blockbuster The Heat earlier this year.

And for Halloween, mothers Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy put their skills to good use as they attempted to go undercover when trick or treating with their families.

Ignoring the trend to use Halloween as an excuse to dress in the skimpiest of clothing, the two were virtually impossible to recognize as the fisherman for Gorton's Fisherman seafood company.

Louis, Sandra's adorable son, was dressed up as a skeleton for the big day.

Meanwhile it seemed as though Melissa, 43, had brought along her daughter Vivian dressed as a bat.

While his mother appeared to be a rather robust figure if her outfit, little Louis kept hold of Sandra's hand throughout.

Sandra, 49, revealed she had adopted her son Louis back in 2010 following her split to Jesse James.

Melissa has two daughters with her actor husband Ben Falcone who came dressed as a robber for the occasion.

Both Sandra and Melissa had been lined up for a sequel to their successful comedy but Sandra recently denied this.

She told TheWrap.com: 'I'm not doing a sequel to 'The Heat'. I've done two sequels. They were horrible. What Melissa and I had was beautiful. We might do another film together. I think we should do a silent film together."

The film's leading ladies formed a close bond on the set of the hit comedy, as did their children, and Bullock hopes to remain friends with her co-star.

She added: 'We do well with our play dates. We're going to keep doing sequels to our play dates.'

Director Paul Feig confirmed a script for the sequel has been written and he would be 'very sad' if Sandra didn't return.

He added: 'It would be very hard. They're so great together. Their chemistry is so awesome. I would be very sad if I didn't have both of them back.'

Meanwhile, Feig is set to re-team with McCarthy for a third time on a James Bond-esque spy comedy, 'Susan Cooper', which will shoot next spring.

He told Page Six: 'I don't want her [to be able] to beat up a 300-pound giant .

She has to use her wits to do it. Women make the best spies because they can figure out how to get in with somebody, gain their trust and be a friend ... still, if she has to kick ass in some way, she can.'
