Gomes set for Tottenham exit after agreeing free transfer back to Brazil in January
Tottenham's forgotten goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes says he has two offers to return to Brazil.
Talking to Sambafoot, he said: ‘Yes, I have two offers from Brazil. I have negotiated with Tottenham to go for free, so the possibility is high that I will find my home country.
‘I’m 32, I feel good, it is at this age that the career of a goalkeeper actually begins. If I find the competition in January, I still think my chances for World Cup 2014 are high.
Out in the cold: Heurelho Gomes has been third choice goalkeeper at Tottenham since the arrival of Hugo Lloris in the summer of 2012
‘I often tried to leave Tottenham, but they have always kept from me going. I had several proposals but they were insufficient for the club. It’s very complicated. They want to recover the €10million (£8.2m) they invested in me five years ago. It is not possible.
‘I was ready to go to Germany (Hoffenheim). Hoffenheim wanted to buy me permanently but Tottenham blocked the move for financial questions. I always tried to leave, but Tottenham has never helped me.’
Error prone: Gomes, pictured here conceding against Real Madrid in April 2011, made a number of high profile mistakes before being replaced by Brad Friedel
