Lost for words! Matt Lucas steps out in high-waisted checked trousers and braces as he continues to film silent comedy Pompidou
His costume may have been considerably more toned down than his last outing, however Matt Lucas undoubtedly turned heads for all the wrong reasons on Monday.
The actor stepped out in eye-catching pair of checked trousers as he continued to film new silent comedy, Pompidou.
The 40-year-old held up his checked bottoms with pale blue braces as he made a beeline for his car in black sunglasses.
Check mate! Matt Lucas sported an unusual get-up on Monday as he filmed new BBC silent comedy, Pompidou
The former Little Britain star teamed his twee attire with a patterned white shirt, a spotted tie and smart brown shoes.
He tweeted later in the day about another project he is working on, writing: 'So I can now confirm I'm returning as Tweedledum and Tweedledee in Disney's Alice Through The Looking Glass. Yay!'
As he won't be relying on dialogue to raise the laughs in the new series, Matt appeared to be making the visual aspect all the more hilarious.

On Friday, the Come Fly With Me regular was again seen shooting scenes for the BBC production in Watford, Hertfordshire, - and his bizarre outfit proved to be a real eye-catcher.
The comedian donned a cream three-piece suit, which featured flared trousers so short they were swinging around his ankles.
Complementing the unflattering ensemble with black platform shoes, maroon socks and a wide-collared black shirt, Matt cut a very unstylish figure as cameras rolled.

To make matters even more comedic, Matt wore his get-up as he visited a fictional dating agency, called I'm With Cupid.
As the star entered the building, a familiar face was seen peering out of the shop's window - former Eastenders star Anita Dobson, who shot scenes as the agency's boss.
For her part, 65-year-old Anita's wardrobe was far more stylish, as she stepped out on the set in an all-black ensemble.

Hot stuff: Matt shared a laugh with the crew as Anita appeared to be enjoying a giggle of her own
With her hair in a neat bun, the veteran actress wore a smart blazer over a blouse with a pencil skirt and patent heels.
The six-part series will feature Matt as the title character, an elderly fallen aristocrat who is forced to live in a clapped-out caravan in front of his dilapidated estate after falling on hard times.
Of course, Pompidou is not without a sidekick - in this case, it will be his trusty, long-suffering butler Hove, who will be played by The Inbetweeners' Alex MacQueen.

Getting down to business: Surrounded by gaudy fixtures, the pair discussed his dating prospects
Signs: The agency featured posters displaying special offers - and boasting their matchmaking skills

Black and white: The co-stars shared a smile as they emerged onto the streets in their contrasting styles
After landing his new deal for Pompidou, Matt said in a statement: 'I'm delighted to be back at the BBC with another show full of new characters - however, unlike Little Britain and Come Fly With Me, this one has no dialogue at all.
'I've always been a huge fan of the visual comedy of Charlie Chaplin, Laurel & Hardy and of course, Mr. Bean.'
The show is scheduled to hit screens in 2015.
Short and sweet: The anticipated comedy will feature just six episodes when it debuts in 2015
Silence! Much like classic comedy Mr. Bean, the show will feature absolutely no dialogue
