CHEMICAL SPILL CLOSES RECYCLE SITE

A number of people received medical treatment after a chemical spill at a recycling centre.

Stobhill Depot in Gorebridge, Midlothian, was closed following the incident at around 10am.

Police, fire and ambulance crews went to the scene to deal with the spill incident, which was resolved by early afternoon.

It is understood a number of people were treated at the scene by ambulance crews after feeling some effects but they are not thought to have required hospital treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Midlothian were called to Stobhill household recycling centre at around 10am today, following a spill of hazardous material.

"Police are currently assisting the fire service in managing the scene."

Midlothian Council said an investigation is under way.
