'I nominate the lady with the bucket!' Ben Affleck does the ALS challenge... then grabs Jennifer Garner and throws her in the pool

They have been married for nine years and share three beautiful children.

And it seems Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner haven't lost the sense of fun that first brought them together.

Ben livened up his take on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by grabbing Jennifer and throwing her in the pool in a video posted on his Facebook on Monday.

Ben's surprise came after Jennifer happily doused him in a bucket of freezing water.

He said: 'I guess I have to pick four other people. My people are going to be folks who I know from firsthand experience look good in a wet T-shirt.

'The first one is Jimmy Kimmel. Second one is Neil Patrick Harris. Third one is Matt Damon.

'And the fourth is the lady with the bucket!'

Quick reflexes: Shortly after he was drenched in the icy cold water Ben grabbed his wife and jumped in the pool

Grabbing a squealing Jennifer, he then dived back into the pool.

Luckily she saw the funny side and laughed at her husband's antics.

As their children giggled in the background, 42-year-old Jen and Ben floated laughing in the water, still wearing their clothes.

Ben had earlier explained nervously: 'Okay, so Tyler Perry called me out and so I’m going to take the challenge. I’m also going to make a donation.'

The Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice actor is just the latest star that has drenched themselves in freezing water for the great cause of promoting awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

As with many other A-listers, Ben not only posted the video to spread awareness but also said he will be making a donation to the cause.

He wrote on his Facebook: 'Challenge accepted Tyler Perry. I will also donate to this very worthy cause - The ALS Association. Over to you Jimmy Kimmel, Neil Patrick Harris, Matt Damon, and my wife. #IceBucketChallenge.'

Other stars followed suit on Tuesday.

LeAnn Rimes was dunked with icy water by her husband Eddie Cibrian, shrieking and giggling after the deed was done.

Meanwhile, pregnant Zoe Saldana declined to take the challenge because of her pregnancy, but she happily had someone throw a bucket of water over her husband Marco Perego.
