Kanye West surrounded by security as he leaves Manhattan apartment and goes back on tour after wife Kim's heist ordeal

It was back to business as usual for Kanye West on Friday as he prepared to perform at two sold out concerts in Chicago this weekend.

The rapper waved goodbye to his still shaken wife Kim Kardashian and children North and Saint on Thursday as they left New York to go home to Los Angeles.

But the show had to go on for Kanye, 39, despite his concerns for Kim, 35, following her heist ordeal in Paris.

The rapper was spotted leaving his Manhattan apartment on Friday in camouflage pants and a white t-shirt and carrying a small black holdall.

He wore a dark gray plush overcoat and a blue baseball cap as he walked to his waiting vehicle, presumably headed to the airport to catch a flight to the Windy City.

He was surrounded by burly bodyguards for the short walk from the building to the limousine as the Kardashian clan beefs up their security detail in the wake of the robbery during which Kim was held at gunpoint.

Kanye appeared to be speaking with someone on his cell phone as he got into the car.

He had cancelled a number of his Saint Pablo Tour concert dates after abruptly cutting short of walking off stage at the Meadow Music and Art Festival short after he was told of Kim's raid halfway through his headline set.

Back onstage at the Allstate Arena, the Famous rapper let his music do the talking during the 90-minute set.

Harnessed onto his floating stage, Kanye worked a pair of his own high top Yeezys as he slowly moved over the crowd below.

Not once speaking after the music started, the 39-year-old held the mic firmly in his glove covered hands as he worked up the energy in the sold-out venue.

During the audacious heist in Paris, that ended with robbers getting away with $11 million-worth of jewelry, reality star Kim reportedly 'begged for her life' and told the gunmen she had children at home.

A spokesperson told DailyMail.com she was 'badly shaken but physically unharmed'.

She apparently decided to take the kids and return to LA without her husband because she feels safer there.

She has also bailed on all upcoming appearances while the family's E! reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians has been put 'on hold indefinitely.'
