The telly fanatic began shedding his locks when he was just 18, leaving him feeling ugly.

So he turned to toupees to try to make himself feel better.

But it all went horribly wrong when he was romping with a boyfriend.

He said: “I was bleaching my hair and using every lotion and potion I could get to try to make it look thicker.

“I got to a point where I couldn’t disguise it anymore so I started shaving it off.

“Then I went down the route of wearing wigs and toupees, which I wore all the time.

“I was getting it on with a guy and he started running his fingers through my hair and he sort of almost ripped it off my head”

“But there was one very embarrassing incident.

“I was getting it on with a guy and he started running his fingers through my hair and he sort of almost ripped it off my head.

"It was really awful. I was getting into the midst of passion and the last thing you expect is for someone to rip your hair off.”

But the Brighton hairdresser is delighted with his new £10,000 locks, which he showed off as Gogglebox returned to Channel 4 on Friday.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: “I love my new hair and can’t wait for my fringe to grow so I can wear it all curly.”

Chris, 40, who stars with pal Stephen Webb, 44, on the show, said the pair are happy to stay on Gogglebox as long as they are wanted.

He added: “We’ve just written our first book together called We Need to Talk.

“We can’t believe we’re still on the sofa for series eight.

“But we both still absolutely love it.”
