The debate night that will be discussed for generations in Political Science classes - and Women's Studies seminars - ended with Republican Donald Trump landing more punches than Democrat Hillary Clinton, and successfully deflecting attention successfully away from a two-day-old crisis about graphic sexual language that threatened to derail his White House bid. In the first debate at Hofstra University 13 days earlier, Clinton sat back and let Trump hang himself. But on Sunday her quiet patience gave him room to roam and dominate. Rudy Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who has been among Trump's most forceful defenders, summed up the real estate tycoon's performance with two words in the post-debate spin room: 'home run.' Neither candidate appeared in the hall where reporters waited to grill them. It was the first time Trump did not do so after any debate he has taken part in in 2015 and 2016. Trump's wife, Melania, and daughter, Ivanka (both left), were seen on stage at the end of the town hall.
'Bill raped me and Hillary threatened me!' Trump unveils FOUR Clinton 'sex victims' just 90 minutes before the debate starts - to cast BOTH of them as sexual abusers
Donald Trump took the gloves off 90 minutes before Sunday night's debate against Hillary Clinton, holding a meeting with four ghosts from Bill Clintons' sexual past - and letting a handful of unsympathetic reporters in to hear them speak. Trump introduced his coalition of the willing - Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, Kathy Shelton and Paula Jones - in St. Louis as a press pool snapped shutters and reporters shouted questions about a new audio recording of Trump saying vulgar things about women 11 years ago. Broaddrick, an Arkansas nursing home administrator who has accused Bill Clinton of forcibly raping her when he was the state's attorney general, said that 'actions speak louder than words. Mr. Trump may have said some bad words, but Bill Clinton raped me. And Hillary Clinton threatened me. I don't think there's any comparison.'
Billy Bush is suspended from The Today Show indefinitely and put under review for his 'inexcusable' comments to Donald Trump caught on hot mic recording
NBC has announced Billy Bush is suspended indefinitely over his lewd comments with Donald Trump that were recorded on a hot mic. Today executive Noah Oppenheim announced Bush's ban in an email to the show's team on Sunday night. 'Let me be clear - there is simply no excuse for Billy's language and behavior on that tape. NBC has decided to suspend Billy, pending further review of this matter,' Oppenheim said. Al Roker, who was went to have the week off for medical reasons, has been called in to take the disgraced host's (top right, with Donald Trump) spot.
The real winner of the second debate: The internet falls in love with undecided voter Kenneth Bone and his red sweater
Uncommitted voter Kenneth Bone asked the second to last question during Sunday's debate - and became such an instant hit that many viewers forgot to listen to the candidates' replies. Bone (pictured left during the debate and right next to Bill Clinton), wearing a red sweater and glasses, changed the pace of the debate by quizzing Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton on their energy policies. 'What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job loss for fossil power plant workers?' Bone asked. Twitter users were quick to hail him as a hero. One of them compared Bone to a character in Toy Story 2 (inset).
Clinton hits back at Trump for 'avalanche of falsehoods' as her campaign denounces Republican for dragging race into the 'gutter'
Hillary Clinton castigated Donald Trump from her campaign plane Sunday evening for spewing an 'avalanche of falsehoods' at her during their debate. 'I really find it almost unimaginable that someone can stand and just tell a falsehood after a falsehood,' she told reporters traveling with her from St. Louis to New York. The Democratic White House contender's campaign manager told journalists on the plane that Trump was 'completely incoherent' much of the time and the answers he gave were 'riddled with non-facts, with lies.' Clinton campaign chairman, John Podesta, deplored Trump for dragging the race into the 'gutter' as he spoke to press from the debate spin room.
