'I want to thank them': Hilary Duff reveals she is 'trying to find' fans who retrieved her lost cell phone during Ellen appearance

Hilary Duff is trying to find the fans who saved her cell phone while she was on her way to a chat show.

The 29-year-old actress explained how she lost it during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show which airs on Monday.

The actress told Ellen, 58, that after a work out session at a Los Angeles gym she left her mobile on the hood of her car.

She drove for a few blocks and then it went flying when she turned onto Wilshire Boulevard, Hilary said.

Witnesses who turned out to be fans of the actress retrieved it from the busy street, she said. 

The phone heroes took a picture on her device and Hilary shared it on the chat show with Ellen's national audience.

'I'm trying to find them to thank them,' said Hilary who donned a rust-coloured long-sleeved pantsuit for her appearance.

Ellen asked Hilary if she was worried about her phone getting in the wrong hands.

'I have learned my lesson with that one,' Hilary said.

'Not from personal experience,' she added.

The Lizzie McGuire star also revealed that her four-year-old son Luca has become a huge Ghostbusters fan.

Ellen who previously gifted Luca with a themed toy car then presented Hilary with a Ghostbusters car for her son.

'Oh my gosh! He's going to freak out,'Hilary said as she checked out the custom car.

Ellen also welcomed Dancing With The Stars frontrunners Laurie Hernandez, 16, and her pro partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy, 30.

They were color coordinated with Laurie in a sleeveless little back dress and Val in a long-sleeved blacked untucked dress shirt, dark jeans and black shoes.

The Olympics gold-medal winning gymnast revealed that she gets inspiration before dancing by pretending she's smelling a quesadilla.

Laurie also spilled that her celebrity crush is actor Dave Franco.

Dave, 31, via video had a message for Laurie and said he would like to meet her some day.

Laurie and Val then performed a tango on the show.
