Matt Smith keeps it casual in a tracksuit as he lands in London after flight from New York with his flame Lily James

He's about to star as a young Prince Philip in Netflix series The Crown about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.  

But Matt Smith looked worlds away from his royal character when he touched down in London after flying from New York with girlfriend Lily James, 27.

The former Doctor Who star, 33, ensured he was as comfortable as possible for the seven hour flight to Heathrow with a tracksuit bottoms and jumper combination.

With his patchy beard unshaven, Matt accessorised with a Nike baseball cap and completed his look with some Converse trainers.

Downtown Abbey actress Lily also covered her hair with her hoody, sporting white trainers and black tracksuit bottoms as she clutched her iPhone and a copy of Elle magazine. 

In New York Matt spoke at Comic Con where he said leaving Doctor Who is one of his ‘great regrets’. His new series The Crown will be on Netflix from November 4.

Matt and Lily have been publicly dating since they were seen sharing a PDA at a north London pub in October 2014 but they've since kept their romance largely under the radar.

The couple - who met on the set of Pride And Prejudice And Zombies - were last seen together when she had just been unveiled as the new face of Burberry's new Black perfume in late August. 

The Downton Abbey star, 27, looked stunning in a black bardot dress as she arrived at Thomas's at Burberry Regent Street, London.

On her arm was her actor boyfriend Matt Smith, who looked incredibly dapper in a dark blue suit.

Lily was joined by a host of her former Downton co-stars, including Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Carmichael and Michael Fox.

Also in attendance was Matt's ex Doctor Who co-star Jenna Coleman and actress Clara Paget.

Earlier that evening, Lily shared her preparation in her hotel room on Instagram.

She captioned a selfie: 'Thank you glam team for creating my perfect @Burberry party look. Make-up by @valeriaferreiramakeup and hair by @perrinerougemonthair. Styling by @rebeccacorbinmurray - follow me on @Burberry snapchat. See you tonight!'

Lily's arrival at the party came after she was unveiled as the new face and body of My Burberry Black just hours earlier.

The new campaign features Lily topless in a promo shot by Mario Testino.

Lily said: 'It was such an honour to follow in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne in such an iconic campaign.

'I remember seeing them in the My Burberry campaign when it launched and I loved it. I was so excited to be asked.'
