Debris-covered beaches and flooded streets were seen throughout Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas on Sunday as it was revealed seven people had died in North Carolina on Saturday night.There were also six reported deaths in Florida, four deaths in Georgia and one in South Carolina. Matthew was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone just before daybreak on Sunday morning. In North Carolina, Matthew flooded homes and businesses as far as 100 miles inland and forecasters warned the state, as well as Virginia, could experience life-threatening flash-flooding through Monday.

Richard Neal and his fiancée, rode out Hurricane Matthew at Frying Pan Tower, an abandoned Coast Guard Light Station located 34 miles off the coast of North Carolina. Richard Neal grabbed his deckchair and placed it on the roof of the rusty rig in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean before laying back and attempting to to relax as the monster storm swirled around him. At one stage, the eye of the hurricane passed directly overhead and for a short period of time everything was calm. Richard ended up broadcasting the view of the storm live from his tower online.

She spoke happily with her father after the even (right), as did her younger half-sister Tiffany (inset). It was her first appearance, and indicator of her unwavering support for her father, since his 2005 comments about groping women became public on Friday.

A fly landed on Hillary Clinton's face during the second Presidential debate, sending Twitter into a frenzy of memes and jokes. Many of them highlighted the fact Mrs Clinton did not flinch, with some going as far as to suggest she was a robot like those in the TV series Westworld. Most of the memes about the fly's appearance at Washington University in St. Louis were poking fun at the Democratic nominee. One suggested the fly was remotely controlled by Trump's children (left). Another joked about the fly later being murdered in a fake suicide (top right) and one Trump supporter claimed the fly was trying to fix Mrs Clinton's 'broken brain' (bottom right).

Donald Trump took the gloves off 90 minutes before Sunday night's debate against Hillary Clinton, holding a meeting with four ghosts from Bill Clintons' sexual past - and letting a handful of unsympathetic reporters in to hear them speak. Trump introduced his coalition of the willing - Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, Kathy Shelton and Paula Jones - in St. Louis as a press pool snapped shutters and reporters shouted questions about a new audio recording of Trump saying vulgar things about women 11 years ago. Broaddrick, an Arkansas nursing home administrator who has accused Bill Clinton of forcibly raping her when he was the state's attorney general, said that 'actions speak louder than words. Mr. Trump may have said some bad words, but Bill Clinton raped me. And Hillary Clinton threatened me. I don't think there's any comparison.'

Bill Pruitt, who worked on seasons one and two of the show, reacted Saturday to the GOP nominee's comments that stars can do anything to women, including grabbing them 'by the p***y'. Fellow producer Chris Nee, who didn't work on The Apprentice, then said she had heard from producers and crew members that the 'far worse' tapes included Donald Trump saying the N-word. But the footage belongs to media company MGM. Producer Mark Burnett (right), the creator of The Apprentice, is the president of MGM Television and Digital Group. He reports to MGM CEO Gary Barber. Ryan Lochte is engaged to Kayla Rae Reid after less than one year together. The pair announced the happy news as they shared separate Instagram posts on Sunday evening. Ryan posted a snapshot which showed Kayla flashing her huge diamond engagement ring as she placed a hand on his cheek and kissed him.

Indian boy Mahendra Ahirwar, 13, was born with a rare condition that made his neck muscles so weak that his head hung at a 180-degree angle. Mahendra's life was a nightmare as he was restricted to sitting and couldn't stand or work. He needed help with eating and going to the toilet. His mother told MailOnline she could no longer bear to see him suffering. But Mahendra's life was transformed after a mother of two living 4,000 miles away in the UK read of his plight and launched a crowd funding page to raise $15,000 for surgery to straighten his neck. The boy's father Mukesh said: 'He looks great. His neck is straight. His life is so very different.'

A thin strip of land in Afghanistan, known as the Wakhan corridor, has remained largely untouched by the Taliban and the US Army, with villagers having little idea of the invasion or war. The Wakhi people live a simple life with their livestock on the rough terrain in desolate countryside, pictured main. Photographer Eric Lafforgue visited the little-known lands amid encouragements from the Afghan government to attract tourists, but he found himself alone in choosing the area as a holiday destination. The seven-month-old boy, named Aidin had been dumped face down in a 20cm grave in Khon Kaen province in Thailand in February , just days after he was born with 14 stab wounds. However, passing cattle herder Kachit Krongyut saw a tiny foot sticking out of the ground under a eucalyptus tree. She then heard the boy's cries and dug through the soil with her hands to rescue the infant.

Ali Vincent, 41, won the fifth season of the competition show in 2008, losing nearly half her body weight and dropping from 234lbs to 122lbs. But in the years since, she struggled to keep the weight off, eventually gaining back all the weight - much of it in the past year. On a Saturday episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?, Ali reveals that she believes the reason for her weight gain stems from a sexual assault that occurred during a massage in 2015.

Estonian company Kodasema has invented a new one-bedroom house with factory-made parts that can be broken down easily. The 260 sq ft house has a living room (top right), kitchen, bathroom and bedroom (bottom right). For anyone needing more space, extra units can easily be bought and added to the structure. To set up home, all a person would need is connection points for water, electricity and sewerage.

Researchers from Lund University in Sweden have been working on the project since 2010, in the hopes of documenting the area in Pompeii before it deteriorates further. The researchers uncovered floor surfaces from AD 79, performed detailed studies of the building development through history, cleaned and documented three large wealthy estates, a tavern, a laundry, a bakery and several gardens. Austrian-born Inge Morath refused to join the Hitler Youth while studying in Germany in the midst of World War II and was forced to work alongside Ukrainian prisoners. After surviving the war, Morath became one of the first women to join the famous Magnum Photos Agency. Because of her gender, Morath was often assigned to photograph debutantes, balls and models. But she built a career and a mastery of being able to capture intimate photos in some of society's most glamorous corners, photographing the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Andy Warhol and some of Hollywood's biggest stars in the 1950s.

Teenager Alex Hayes (inset) claims to have captured extraordinary footage (pictured and inset) of him wake surfing with a dolphin off the coast of Sydney. The astonishing footage shows the surfer using a GoPro to film himself riding waves when the dolphin emerges below him. The video appears to show the animal following Mr Hayes along as he trails his friends in a boat, but the footage has not been verified and the teenager has a history of faking similar feats.

With a UN report estimating that 100million people around the world do not have a place to call home, photocrowd.com ran a competition, where participants were asked to capture homeless people. And it produced a striking series of images that have been released that show the hardships of people across the globe who are homeless. Among them are a homeless boy in Manila, main, a female beggar in Lisbon, top left, and stray dogs in India, bottom left.

One woman has found a perfect way not to let her wedding dress go to waste - by wearing it again and again. Samantha Burns, from Massachusetts, is so attached to the dress that she has worn it golfing, munching pancakes (left), taste-testing sweets (centre), goofing around with inflatable animals (right) and dancing on a river cruise, all on the anniversary of her tying the knot. The 30-year-old married her husband Darren in August 2014 (inset).

Storm, an 18-month-old Staffordshire bull terrier, has an incredible skill for vertical wall running and is trying to beat the world record of 14ft with the help of her owner Alex Manning, from England. The pair usually do their training during Storm's daily morning walks, which Alex (pictured left with Storm) says keeps his hound fit and healthy.
