Skiing in New York? Daredevil turns Manhattan's Park Avenue into makeshift slope

The Big Apple has seen a lot of snow in the last few weeks, and driving in the white stuff can be tricky. So, it should come as little surprise that one enterprising New Yorker decided there was a quicker way to negotiate Manhattan - on a pair of skis.

Armed with a high definition camera, the plucky winter sports enthusiast got his friends to tow him with a 4x4 down Park Avenue, one of the city's busiest streets.

The mystery skier, who goes by the name Scranga, then posted his high-speed antics on YouTube.

Travelling at up to 40mph, at one point he narrowly misses a couple of pedestrians, but at the end of the video he can be seen stowing the rope away in the back of the black Range Rover.

As HillBillyKate writes in the YouTube comments: 'The great part is the cops really couldn't have stopped you because they would have never been able to get you unless they were on snowmobiles.'

Perhaps he’ll be out again at the end of the week, when more snow is forecast for Manhattan.
